Come on Tom, you're better than that. There's nothing "secretive" in the nature of the idea/structure. These kinds of meetings have been going on for years, both formally and informally. Hardly sinister, and my only complaint is/was they don't make better use of the collective organizations that gather to discuss issues and ideas.

I immediately thought of "Dead Poets Society" when I read your post.

"We are dreaming of tomorrow and tomorrow isn't coming. We are dreaming of a glory that we don't really want. We are dreaming of a new day when the new day's here already. We are running from the battle when it's one that must be fought."

And what message are you trying to convey here Josie?

Just trying to understand the system in place Bill. Does one need an invite to attend these meetings? Would be good to know how much influence they have with RCSC and its members. Are these meetings part of the lack of participation dilemma?

No message. Secret meetings just reminded me of the movie.

Yes you need an invite and no one has much influence over the RCSC, they are the big dog in this hunt.

One of the interesting footnotes to these organizational meetings has been when the RCSC has elected not to be involved. I'm certainly no expert on how or why they have been successful or not, because over the years i haven't been involved. I know this, in the absence of any city government structure, any efforts to bring all of the various players into the room has a value.

Let me give you an example of the one time (this spring) i was there. The community liaison from the Maricopa County Sheriff was there and he was impressive to say the least. His input to the discussion was especially stabilizing when one considers how many Sun City residents believe we have little or no policing in the community.

Beyond that is the value of a collective mindset between all of the organizations (at least those attending) and the idea they were acting in some sense of unity. I saw the enormous potential, i didn't feel there was much of an effort to extend the reach beyond those with butts in the chairs. While i was excited by what could be, i was more disappointed by what wasn't.

Rather than belabor this here, i'll start a new thread regarding big picture/small picture Sun City. I've done it numerous times over the years, and one of the problems is the whole out of sight, out of mind thing that goes on.

Thanks for this info Bill. “Secret” was probably too strong of a word with this added info. Info is indeed power, so who controls info controls power. An example of course would be the Grand Center project and how it got done before MV. Which entity had the info and power to make the Grand Center a reality?
