Looking forward to this morning, should be an exceptional day. We are getting together with Jerry Svendsen for a video taping of his recollections of those years (1961-1978) he spent as Sun City's public relations guru. He is one of the last DEVCO employees standing and losing his memories without recording them would be tragic. There are 4 of us that will be sitting with him; Paul Herrmann, formerly the Visitor Center Director and current SC Museum board member, Bret McKeand, long time SC Independent reporter, now executive for the parent paper and SC Museum board member, Ben Roloff, friend and SC historian extraordinaire and myself. Jolynn Higgins and Mike Dovorak have handled all of the setup and recording on behalf of the RCSC. They will make a decision on how and where this is posted. Once it has been edited and posted, i will make sure and post a link to it. This is one of those times where an unscripted informal chat may be better than reading from per-determined lines. Jerry was the guy who interacted with so many of those early pioneers and then handled all of the entertainment for the Sun Bowl. Should be fun, interesting and enlightening.
Exceptional morning with Jerry. He is simply delightful and his stories are wonderful. Bret couldn’t make it so Jolynn jumped as the rose amidst the thorns. We also had Allan Klienhans insuring we got both good audio and visual so it should be fun to see when the RCSC gets it edited and posted.
Not up yet E, we shot lots of footage and needs to be edited, gotta get the profanity out...just kidding on the cussing.
