Sun City Posse is an all-volunteer organization that began about 1974. They patrol the streets, monitor events, and will watch your house when you are gone. You have to sign up to get that service. Recent activities included an open house, pill drop off day, and a shredathon. The Posse is located behind Sunland Mortuary off of Del Web south of Bell. SC posse I forgot to mention that the Posse also has a Funeral Watch program. That is, when a Sun City resident has a funeral (usually for husband or wife) the Posse member will sit in front of house in one of the marked cars. Funeral dates & times are often mentioned in newspaper. The bad guys say Ah! Ha! and take advantage of an empty house.
The Sun City Posse promotes the Sun City Fire Department Lockbox Program. For a nominal onetime fee (around $50) the SC Fire Department will install a lockbox on your house. Then in case of an emergency they do not have to break down the door! A friend had an emergency and it cost her upwards of $500 to have her door replaced. Did she get a lockbox? You betcha!
What an amazing service the Posse provides. I am going to encourage my husband to get involved! Will give him something to do when he's not golfing!!
The Posse is always looking for new members. There are a variety of jobs. Nearly everyone wears a uniform. The official Posse uniform is just like the regular Sheriffs. The Associate uniform is yellow shirt and brown pants. I am an Associate and work at the front desk several times a month. Maybe you, too, would like to become a Posse member. BTW. I am from Whidbey Island

Sun City Arizona is called the City of Volunteers for a reason. Nearly is currently a volunteer or has volunteered at one time.
Block Watch Program The Sun City Posse has a Block Watch Program. Upon request, a member of the Posse will attend a Condo Association meeting and explain the program. We watch out for each other and report misterious activity. I have given a Block Watch sign to everyone in my association to put in their window. Individuals can get a sign by visiting the Posse in SC. Just another deterent to the bad guys! There is an organization that sends me a map indicating what criminal activity has occurred within 5 miles of my house. Fortunately, there isn't much.
Just a heads up. The Sun City Visitor Center and Posse are closed in the afternoon during the summer - June, July, & August. Both places are open during the summer from 9-12
