Do you mean the nursing school doesn't own that building. I had thought they bought it. So maybe still time in the future to snap it up. :encouragement: Your idea would have been so good. I mean it's right there. The view, the building...

To my knowledge, it's still just a rental. One of the reasons i knew we were never serious about buying it because management never really tried to fins out the details. Obviously it would have upset the priority of all golf, all the time.

I'm one of those odd ducks who saw Sun City as it's own Utopian ideal. The concept of self-governance in the real world is so far removed from reality. Sun City was built on a platform of the community taking ownership. Historically the larger scope population, was involved rather than the small picture board/management ideology. As we have drifted from that, i feel the community has suffered.

It's the one reason i would go back, run again for another term. Like i said, just because i think something is right for the community, doesn't mean it is. At least from my perspective, putting choices in front of people and getting feedback/input is infinitely better than management making their decisions and the board blissfully blessing it. I see glimmers of hope as this years board has made some changes, but time will tell how much they will do. Sadly, the massive golf expenditures are on the books and looks like it will continue to drain PIF reserves for the next several years. Perhaps once the pending court case is done we can re-evaluate our priorities.

I forget the history of that building BP. Did SC own it at one point? I think the answer is yes since it's right on the lake. And FYI, guys and dude is always gender neutral. In recent years b**ch has also gone that direction. Pinkman in Breaking Bad is responsible for that one.:nevreness:

Built in 1972 by DEVCO, it was John Meeker's baby. Burned almost to the ground the day before it opened, and almost cost John his job when his boss Bob Johnson saw the gold bathroom fixtures and massive cost overruns. In the end it was a stroke of genius as it became the place to take potential buyers.

Meeker was let go in 1981 and Bob Johnson retired after that. The new president, Swanson was brought in to try and stop the bleeding from their gaming division and the downturn in housing due the recession and high mortgage rates.

The Lakes Club was the one property they never gave us.

The property went up for sale in 2001 and the asking price was in the two million dollar neighborhood. It included the land all the way out to Thunderbird and was a steal at that price. Unfortunately the PIF had just been instituted and the RCSC didn't the money.

In my humble opinion, Sun City will never be complete until it is back in our hands where it belongs.

I found it strange, only in that it appears to weaken the RCSC's arguments they will be making in court (but then i'm not an attorney, so take it for what it is worth).

My question is can they introduce a bill that would effect a lawsuit already in progress? Wouldn't clarification of an existing law (not a planned community if condos are involved) be something that is decided in court? That's what I understood they are attempting after reading the article. Or did I miss the point?

I thought it was going to court in May? Did that happen?

Nope, it is in a holding pattern somewhere over the rainbow. No one knows and if they do, no one is saying. Apparently the legislation does weaken what they were hoping for via the lawsuit. Not sure why, but that is what someone told me.
