Yes I was but Bill was elected the year before me. That’s when I was investigating the financial statements and asking questions of the GM and received unsatisfactory answers. Aside from self and Bill the only other person in touch with reality was Carole Martinez. The balance of the Board were golfers. Tough to get anything of substance done. Jan could never give an answer on the “Brigadoon money” which we later learned was what you cash carry forward money. She never talked about deferred maintenance which piled up over the years.

As I have stated repeatedly, Jan hide everything so she could get up for seven years straight and say no increase in fees at the Annual Meeting to throw the members into an orgasmic frenzy at that news. If you attended those meetings you know what mean. That should about cover it.

See you at the next cell meeting there code name Trotsky.

Woke, awaken to facts, like racism is part of our DNA since 1619, that the LGBTQ community are citizens like the rest of us and entitled to the protection of our laws and not marginalized by a bunch white farts with proto Nazi leanings because it’s popular in the levers of governments and the uneducated.

BTW, where’s Melania? She in hiding from the Orange Stain? Noticed Trump and his puppy VP pick are together a lot. Are they becoming Nancy boys? Where is JD’s wife and is she black or brown or very tan white person and has she popped out any babies since hubby became Trump’s bitch and why not? Not exactly keeping what hubby is telling other women.

See I can campaign like a Republican with all the accoutrements. Vote Red or be dead.

    Bill,
I don't want to get into an online argument with you. In fact, I won't but feel compelled to defend myself. First I will ignore your insults to my intelligence.
Both January 6th and the Afghanistan withdrawal were horrendous and morally wrong. I am not going to be forced to determine which was worse. I do believe that Trump encouraged and could have done more to prevent the invasion of our Capitol and Biden approved a VERY poorly thought out and implemented plan to withdraw our troops. Both events were morally wrong. Time will tell which was worse - our Nation's President watching our venerable Capitol building being invaded or leaving soldiers, allies, innocent Afghan citizens and billions of dollars of military equipment behind for the Taliban to be used against us or our allies. Both a travesty to our nation. History will be the judge of which was worse; not you or I.
No, you did not use words to disparage the soldiers killed in Afghanistan. Just the fact that you didn't mention them, and instead went directly to the Jan 6th debacle, made me think you were not that sympathetic to their untimely and unnecessary demise. I am wondering what you were doing between 1965 and 1974 during the Vietnam era when so many of our peers were enlisting or being drafted. (No, I didn't enlist. As a female, I didn't want to go into nursing and was unaware of any other opportunities. I would perhaps do differently if I were young today.)
You referred to me as a "Trumper" in your post which is erroneous. There are many, many things I don't like about Trump and find many of the things he does and says offensive. I held my nose and voted for him twice only because I considered him a better candidate for our nation than either Hillary or Biden. Won one, lost one. So, no, I don't "ignore reality or eat his shit sandwiches". I don't have to apologize for my common sense Midwestern conservative views.
Here are the important issues to me in this election and I will vote for the candidates that I believe will best fulfill them:
National security - Safety of our citizens should be of the utmost importance to anybody in our nation's executive branch, as well as Congress. This includes military preparedness and support from whichever administration becomes President and VP. We need a sufficient number of trained personnel and they should be provided with the necessary military equipment. (Let's not get into another war like WW II where we were not prepared for it before being invaded at Pearl Harbor.)
This also includes safety for our citizens from within. The lack of border security has let in millions of immigrants without proper vetting and protocol. I am IN FAVOR of legal immigration. My community has 20%+ Hispanic citizens, most who are not proficient in the English language. Those are just the legal ones who were counted in the 2020 census. That number has grown in the last four years and doesn't include the ones who here but not included in the census. Our adjacent county, Colfax - only 10 miles away, has 46.1% Hispanics in the same census. A mass deportation of illegal immigrants would be devastating to our local economy. Most of these immigrants are hard working individuals in meatpacking and related jobs, supporting multiple family members, who do work that our native born citizens won't do. This is one part of Trump's Agenda 47 that I disagree with, mass deportations. I support getting those with criminal backgrounds out but will they just come back across the border again? FYI, my career involved working with many, many Hispanic students and parents, probably about a third of my caseload during the latter years that I worked. All in all, I found them to be sincere and respectful. It warms my heart when I run into one of them and they tell me about their present lives. I also coordinated ESL classes in our public library and county jail. Even took those programs to three surrounding counties. Now that was a good use of federal funds because it required time and effort on the part of those participating. No free handout.
Defunding our police departments is probably the worst idea I have ever heard! Proper training is essential and sensitivity to minorities is important, but protecting the public is their utmost duty. Who would want to enter law enforcement today?
I am going to compare and contrast our nation's government to that of RCSC. Both are governed by elected officials. We know that the US has three divisions - executive, legislative and judicial - which has served our country well for over 200 years. From what I can tell, RCSC also has three divisions - elected Board of Directors, management, and the Members who can implement judicial decisions by recall petitions/elections and Member meetings. Unfortunately the RCSC bylaws have made it very difficult for Members to be able to proceed with that judicial component. Just like our nation needs to protect our citizens and their rights, RCSC should do the same for our Members. Facilities need to be safely maintained and we should not allow anyone else other than Members and their guests to use the facilities our Members pay to use. People entering our facilities need to show proper identification and follow the rules. It's devastating that same principle isn't happening at our borders. Bill, I don't think you support opening RCSC to outsiders because I recall your opposition to outside golfers using our courses for less money than our Member golfers. The same should apply to our nation, our amenities and access to programs. I wouldn't withdraw my support of our Sun City Posse or defund the Maricopa county sheriff's department either.

National Debt, Taxes and Government spending - Like national security, our government needs to protect our nation's resources. First and foremost, they should be used for the benefit of our citizens and taxpayers. I am all for helping the downtrodden. In fact, I will put my record next to anyone's and mine will likely be better than most. With our national debt and the tax burden on the US families trying to survive, we need to be careful that we don't feel obligated to help everyone with their hand out. The recipients and the officials giving out the aid need to be held accountable. I am fortunate to live in Nebraska. Although we have high taxes, we are a balanced budget state. We can't spend more than we can afford. Too bad our nation, and other states, don't have a balanced budget. (Bill, before you go off on me, I realize that the national debt became bigger under Trump and continued to accelerate under Biden/Harris. If I recall correctly, things were better when Clinton was President, giving your Democrat credit where credit is due.)
It would be irresponsible for me to leave my sons with a significant personal debt when I die. Unfortunately there will be a HUGE national debt for them to deal with during their lifetimes. Right now the national debt is calculated at $93,000+ person. For the eight members of my immediate family that amounts to over $700,000 and continues to rise. I expect to keep my personal expenditures in line and we have advocated for RCSC doing the same. Why not the federal government? Of course, at my age, I am concerned about maintaining the solvency of Social Security and Medicare which I paid into throughout my life. That should be paramount to sending billions of dollars to foreign nations or on illegal immigrants.
Again, a comparison to RCSC. As advocates, you and I, along with others, expect responsible management of our finances. We should only spend the money what we can afford to spend while being sensitive to increases for lot assessments. Many of us have been critical of the $18M backlog in maintenance. We should expect no less for our federal, state and local government entities.
If Harris and Walz can show me that they are committed to the same principles as I have mentioned and will make sure that happens, I am all for them. (Please note that abortion and LBGTQ rights are not at the top of my list. No problem addressing these issues, they are just not my priorities.) So far, I have not read, heard or seen the assurances from Harris and Walz that would encourage me to vote for them and, considering their past records, I am very concerned about our nation's future if they are elected. While I can understand the enthusiasm for them being younger candidates, I associate "Spend, baby, Spend!" with them not "Joy, baby, Joy!" We all want more joy in our lives. Sorry, but joy doesn't pay the bills.
For me, the AA/AlAnon slogan I am using here is "Keep an open mind". Is your mind open to the best ways to assure national security and responsible government spending?

To those who find my post “too long and boring” I suggest that they go no further. Janet, I marked your posting as a “Like” not because I agreed with everything you wrote but because you took the time and made the effort to actually deal with issues. We all understand that we are trying to deal with very complicated issues so that sound bites will not really allow this to happen. You raise a lot of concerns in your post and I am not going to try and respond to them all but I’ve picked out a few that I hope to clarify for you. And anyone else reading your and my postings.

So regarding the defunding of the police. There are many views on why this is a good thing, here is my take. The idea is not to just cut budgets but to halt the trend of militarizing the police. Keep in mind that “today, police disproportionately use force against black people, and black people are more likely to be arrested and sentenced.” Many people in the black and other minority communities across America do not feel protected by the police. Here is an article from 5 years ago about some of the factors involved. https://progressive.org/latest/us-p...-color-paying-price-shahshahani-cohen-191007/

From April 2024 I find: “Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein says she was charged with assaulting a police officer after she attended a pro-Palestinian protest on the campus of Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, on Saturday.” A 73 year old woman assaulting a policeman, who was probably all decked out for a riot. Yeah, right. If you are tempted (and I really don’t know how you stand on this issue) to equate “pro-Palestinian protest” with anti-semitism please keep in mind that Stein is Jewish. Being opposed to the policies of the Israeli government does not make one anti-semitic just as being opposed to some policies of the US government does not automatically make one anti-American.

I find that I am more concerned with “abortion and LBGTQ rights” than I am about monetary issues because I feel that there is nothing more important in America today than protecting the individual rights of our citizens. Nothing.

Your use of the phrase “common sense” interested me because I have for a long time noticed that this is a phrase favored by conservatives because it somehow suggests that their perspective is one shared by all, or at least enough of us to warrant the use of the word “common.”

    That’s enough for now. Einar

Quick observation. You cited a very left-wing publication for your information. Every time I post a video or an article from Newsmax or Fox (even tho I don't consider Fox Right leaning anymore) I am chastised for my source choice. Now if my source is one of those two, I also cite CNN, MSNBC, ABC or another left leaning source.

Also a good thing to keep in mind is that all the articles I found online are from 2015 to 2020.

Here’s what US police learn from Israel’s police force – and why it’s controversial – The Forward

I don't understand how anyone can equate 13 of our military killed (with full knowledge of suicide bomber they could have killed), 7 Billion Dollars of equipment left behind for the Taliban and hundreds of people left behind, 6 of them found murdered this week to the January 6th riot. The only person killed on J6 was an unarmed protestor shot by the capitol police. Why shoot an unarmed woman? Yes there was damage to the Capitol, yes Trump should have said something sooner, Yes Nancy Pelosi should have had the capitol police in place, that was her job as Speaker.

The bottom line is those 13 soldiers and their families will never be the same again. Those 13 are DEAD. That's pretty final.

Jan. 6 was awful. Ashley Babbitt should not have died. Those people were wrong, but let me ask you how does that building look today? Were repairs made? Does it look the same? Is everything broken fixed? YES.

Why isn't the burning down of Minneapolis on the same level? A city was destroyed because a cop killed a convicted felon who was high out of his mind. The cop is paying for what he did, the J6 rioters are in jail for what they did, but Biden and Harris are responsible for 13 deaths of our soldiers and they are walking around free.

Kamala Harris’ supported a bail fund that freed violent criminals arrested during the Minneapolis riot. Why is that ok?

Does anyone see a double standard here?

It was 13 service men and woman, not just 6!

And 2 protest participants in the J6 riots that died. As you said, unarmed Air Force Veteran Ashley Babbit was shot by capitol Police and Rosanne Boyland died because capitol police wouldn't allow people to come to her aid.

Don't believe what you read in the New York Times.

And no Policemen died because of rioters.

Watching Biden speaking about how well American's are doing now. How we are in the "Great American Comeback". How we are able to spend more. Good Lord! I kid you not I had not been out to lunch or dinner for about 2 years. Went with neighbor at the beginning of the year (he lost his partner and needed cheering up). We went to the very exclusive Mercer's on Peoria. Almost fell out of the booth when a burger was $15, Omlet same! What in the hell happened???
