    They wouldn't be running it.

So, if RCSC wouldn’t be running it, who would?
How can the RCSC allocate 2.5 million for an upscale? Restaurant when they don’t
know who is going to run it unless someone one the board already has a
    entity already selected? Personal agenda?
Still haven’t seen a response to ‘what is an upscale restaurant”
Come on all you TOSC regulars and Experts, you all have the answer
    to this.

The closest thing we've had to an upscale restaurant in Sun City was the old Lakes Club. In fact, they had multiple bars and restaurants and could cater huge events. Beyond that, i would be hard-pressed to show you an upscale restaurant, mostly casual dining was the order of the day. Of course back in the 60's and 70's, those members of the greatest generation wore coats and ties often to those casual settings. A wholly different era and wholly different times and attitudes.

    "
What happened to the 14 restaurants that left Sun City?
    Why did they leave?"

No answer to this one either. Wow.

I can't believe no one has any idea why 14 restaurants closed shop in the Cheapest retirement community.

I suspect the reason it was on the agenda SCR was more an effort to acknowledge the results of the ASU survey than anything remotely likely to happen.

Actually i did answer it, you just elected to be snarky (see the bottom of page 1). A handful of those restaurants are still open and fast food locations have become far more a preference than during our first 30 years. To be repetitive, this isn't just a Sun City thing, not even close. Restaurants are closing all over the country.

I have asked this question many times. I never understood why SC lost almost all its restaurants, resale shops and small businesses yet they thrive in SCW. I posted this back in January:

I did a little research on SCW and there are 18 restaurants including a wine bar and pub (that does include 3 fast food, but does not include rec center restaurants. There are two dog parks, 1 for large dogs, 1 for small. Gas stations, auto repair, car washes, hardware stores, Bob's Variety, drug stores, quality resale shops, dog grooming, a vet and 3 large grocery stores. Of course all the regular clubs, bowling etc. I know I missed a lot of stores in the 'commercial core', sorry.

The Hole in One Restaurant just joined with Cardiac Solutions to serve "heart healthy" meals in addition to their regular menu

Let's see if you can post their names and locations (if you can't, then it's just more BS)? And to be clear, the restaurants not in Sun City West can't be counted as in Sun City West. You can't even come close to that number. Maybe if you are including "Pete's Food Truck," said with a hearty laugh. And remember your post, you weren't including rec center restaurants.

I eagerly await your answer, because just like Sun City and everywhere else in the country, restaurants are closing.

Here are 13 of them Bill, then add the wine and cheese bar in the Fry's. I will find 4 more, however I think I included Tivoli as it is right across Bell so very close to SCW.

OMG, no let me rephrase that OMG.
Truly, you just post shit and hope it sticks to the wall (from your list):
1). Hole n' One; In the Johnson Rec Center (according to your rules, doesn't count)
2). The Crooked Putter: At the Grandview Golf course (we have similar restaurants at country clubs in SC).
3). Anacapa Restaurant: In Corte Bella, not Sun City West.
4). George's Lakeview Cafe: This is the best one yet, located in Sun City.
5). Nino's Mexican Restaurant: In SCW.
6). Betty's Rooste. At Del Webb Hospital campus, open Mon-Friday 7:30 till 2 pm.
    7). Nan Jing: In SCW.
8). Nino's Mexican Restaurant: Sorry, listed twice, doesn't count.
    9). Arby's: Really?
    10). Senior Taco: Really?
    11). Dairy Queen: Really?
    12). Subway: Really?
    13). Domino's Pizza? Really, really?

Normally i wouldn't waste my time but for all those following this site, there's truth and there's fiction. Clearly you live in the Stephan King fantasy world of make believe. What really pisses me off is your intentions to make Sun City look bad when in fact it isn't. Off the top of my head, i can list 8 to 10 real restaurants in Sun City (including privately owned but open to the public golf courses and the two George's in the bowling alleys) plus no less than 15 to 20 fast food places. We have more of those because Sun City was built around a different platform. We have major arteries going through the community, while Sun City West was built around a hub structure bypassing the major arteries. While Grand Ave and Bell road border their community, none of the restaurants you so badly want to count to include in SCW are in Surprise.

BTW. you are up to three, so only a few to go. Have you been to Fry's wine bar? It's a freaking grocery store, kind of like saying their deli is a fine dining establishment.

Corta Bella is Sun City West Bill. It's like Quail Run is Sun City. Bella Vista address is:

Address: 22135 N. Mission Drive, Sun City West, AZ 85375
    Email: info@bellavistacortebella.com
    Phone: (623) 455- 9045
    HOA: Visit Website

When people count eateries here they include McDonalds etc. I would also include Bibiano's as Sun City even tho it's Peoria. You are just angry because they have restaurants, nice ones too. So very sorry I didn't catch George's. What time and day will my public flogging take place.

You get my point, you just won't admit it. Fry's wine bar is still a place you can go for a nice glass of wine and a snack.

    Another:

Yes, the Sun City West recreation centers have restaurants. Specifically, Pete's Café has a soft opening inside the R.H. Johnson Sports Pavilion, and it serves breakfast, Puerto Rican cuisine, sandwiches, and burgers. The café is open to the public and also provides service to the bowling lanes and Lizard Acres Pub.

And let's not forget the two resale shops, beall's, car washes, gas stations centrally located so you don't have to drive your golf cart across busy streets, bob's variety

    The definition of fine dining is as follows;

Fine dining is a term often associated with luxurious and high-quality meals, provided in an elegant and sophisticated setting. It goes beyond just the food itself, encompassing the entire dining experience, from the ambiance to the service. Fine dining establishments are typically characterized by their attention to detail, use of the finest ingredients, culinary craftsmanship, and a commitment to creating memorable experiences for their patrons.

Based upon this description, it would be a sit down experience that provides gastronomical delight. Be prepared to pay for such an experience. This is far above the standard fare normally experienced locally with few exceptions. I consider Dominic’s to be an excellent example of fine dining.

Corte Bella is not like Quail Run; not even remotely close, not even a teeny, tiny little bit. People living in Quail Run sign a facilities agreement and are RCSC members, just like every other phase. Corte Bella wanted to be a part of SWC, but West wanted no part of them. Sorry, just a fact of life.

Fry's is a grocery store with a wine bar; cool, but it's still a grocery store...i know i've been in lots of times. Bibiano's is not a part of Sun City, it's in Youngtown, i think, so no i wouldn't count it in Sun City's eating establishments. No more than i would include Brenda's Kitchen, though lots of Sun City residents eat there.

No public flogging necessary, you took the lazy man's (woman in your case) approach and clicked on a list which was worthless on its face. It happens, but when you use a worthless list to make Sun City look bad (which you feel it is), then expect to get called on it. End of story, unless you keep responding.

And so i am really clear, Sun City West is a great retirement community. I know more about it than i write because i follow some of their community interactions. For example PORA (their home owners association) is going through some difficult times. They just sent a letter out in the newspaper telling members to cease and desist the public criticism of board members or they will file for injunctive relief (suing them for slander). DEVCO gave them their own building in the 80's and apparently they have fallen on hard times.

It's still a great community in spite of their troubles and no matter how many eating establishments they have within their white walls.

It has a SCW address and zip code and anyone can eat at those restaurants. You know what my point is. However you are correct.

I don't go to fine dining restaurants and haven't since we stopped going to Vegas 10 years ago or so SCR. After the Stardust closed we used to go to another Boyd property the Sun Coast. They had a great fine dining experience, we only ate there because our casino host comped us. It was expensive and quite spectacular by anyone's standards. I see the name of it is currently William B's Steakhouse. If it were located in Sun City, i doubt it would last six months.

I have been to none of the restaurants you listed, just not my thing. The only time we go out to eat is at Big Buddha for Chinese but it appears to be under new management and the food just isn't as good. We used to go out to eat more, but frankly the food was most always just okay. The article i clipped and posted made reference to how hard the Pandemic hit the restaurant industry, but hell, it crippled more than where people eat.

All of our lives were changed and in many cases not for the better. I'm no expert on fine dining so i am happy to let you and others define/describe them. I would question the sanity of anyone building a fine dining location in Sun City...unless it was attached to a bigger picture than just a place to eat, a literal destination to bring family, friends and visitors. Even then it would be a crap shot.

Corte Bella is located inside Sun City West.

They are not part of SCW recreation as they have their own facilities and clubs.

They have their own HOA (AAM), HOWEVER, they are under the umbrella of PORA.

    https://cortebella.net/page/14243~304684/pora-services

    Bella Vista

    https://www.bellavistacortebella.com/

We have eaten at Anacapa and Bella Vista.

I consider upscale dining to be places like Fleming's, Dominick's or The Capital Grille in Scottsdale.
