Thanks to all for the plant information. I love our desert plants which is a good thing since I kill anything I bring back from Home Depot.

you asked how to find a url of a picture. you click on it until it is the only thing on the screen (often they are embedded in an article) on a few occasions they are not clickable. I put the example here of the picture you posted. I had to click on the pop-up before it gave the url (the line in the address bar) Of course if you are clicking on something outiside of this forum it will not have the forum name in it. often they are just numbers

Great stuff everyone!! Love all this.. I am in Florida and these pictures make me feel like I am in Arizona!! Also, I copy and pasted on how to post pictures for BPearson and others who were wondering.... see below... Got it from FAQ section:

    Attachments and Images
How do I attach a file to a post?

To attach a file to your post, you need to be using the main 'New Post' or 'New Thread' page and not 'Quick Reply'. To use the main 'New Post' page, click the 'Post Reply' button in the relevant thread.

On this page, below the message box, you will find a button labelled 'Manage Attachments'. Clicking this button will open a new window for uploading attachments. You can upload an attachment either from your computer or from another URL by using the appropriate box on this page. Alternatively you can click the Attachment Icon to open this page.

To upload a file from your computer, click the 'Browse' button and locate the file. To upload a file from another URL, enter the full URL for the file in the second box on this page. Once you have completed one of the boxes, click 'Upload'.

Once the upload is completed the file name will appear below the input boxes in this window. You can then close the window to return to the new post screen.

What files types can I use? How large can attachments be?

In the attachment window you will find a list of the allowed file types and their maximum sizes. Files that are larger than these sizes will be rejected. There may also be an overall quota limit to the number of attachments you can post to the board.

How do I add an image to a post?

If you have uploaded an image as an attachment, you can click the arrow next to the 'Attachment Icon' and select it from the list. This will be inserted into your post and can be located where you want it displayed.

To include an image that is not uploaded as an attachment and is located on another website, you can do so by copying the full URL to the image, (not the page on which the image is located), and either pressing the 'Insert Image' icon or by typing [IMG] after it, ensuring that you do not have any spaces before or after the URL of the image. You can insert pictures from your albums (?) in this way too.

I have two booklets "Landscape Watering by the Numbers" - - helps with finding plants that require little water... and how much to water your plants.... AND "Landscape Plants for the Arizona Desert" - - both are given out free at Local Nurseries..(normally) or you can go online www.amwua.org (Arizona Municipal Water Users Association.) Both of these booklets were very helpful to me - when I planted all desert landscape in my yard - - hooray -- I use little water ! ! Both booklets are a must to look at !

Some of the local utility companies also offer free trees that are specially picked for the region. If you sign up and go to their workshop on caring for them, you will be able to obtain a couple for free at the time that is right for planting.

Yes, the ants are out -- the rains have some -- so have the flooding in streets and some Valley of the Sun Homes.
Take precaution while driving thru the dust storms - and our horrible rains that come with a force.

Meanwhile -- our desert landscape "loves this weather "--- I almost could call it "their yearly watering".

Sometimes - - the outcome is not so good.

Poor octotillo. Wind took down a cactus of mine too. First year I was here, my large mesquite literally bit the dust. Where's the bridge in the pic? And the locale for that striking dust storm shot?

Dust storm was in Ahwatukee, AZ Aug of 2003

The octotillo uprooted was one of my neighbors...in July 2010 with a bad monsoon that hit Sun City Area.

The bridge is located at Rio Vista Park - - Thunderbird & Rio Vista Pkwy., Peoria. Jan. in 2010 --I am glad I had my camera -- I had never seen so much water in our area ! ! That River Bed in that park area was totally flooded from the rains we had that month .
AND -- I even called in for "Sick Days" at work - - streets were so flooded between here and my work -- I thought I would be sick for sure, if I traveled any distance on some of these roads.

If these monsoon storms hit -- they HIT ! !

Of course, in January regarding Rio Vista Park -- that was just a El Nino Event ! ! with :fat: all that rain !
