Member Engagement in the Governance Process

Discussion in 'Sun City General Discussions' started by John Fast, Feb 13, 2025.

  1. John, I apologize for redirecting your thread. However, I felt it was important to highlight a particular reason members feel estranged....being blindsided by the reality that they have no voting rights regarding assessments and fees, while meanwhile, there is a blank check attached to their property.

Regardless, thank you for your insights. While member engagement is essential, the Board must do more to ensure it is both meaningful and impactful.

It is troubling that committee recommendations are disregarded, as this erodes trust and discourages participation. Additionally, introducing multiple co-chairs with voting rights further complicates RCSC governance and sidelines member voices.

To address these concerns, the RCSC Board needs to reassess its approach to governance, codifying inclusivity and transparency. However, it seems unwilling or incapable of making the necessary changes on its own.

That would be good, because i heard Rick's comments as well and was stunned to hear him say what he said. He knows the importance/value of his constituents as well or better than anyone that has ever served on the board. Love to hear his clarification.

I get accused often of repeating myself; i plead guilty. There is nothing more important to the success of Sun City than restoring that sense of community. The argument that people have changed has some validity, but i refuse to accept the vast majority of those living here and those that will be buying here aren't interested in a cohesive and caring community.

This isn't that hard gang, it just isn't.

Not about me at all John. It's about the RCSC and what has happened to SC over the past 15-20 years. Some are my personal stories, Lord knows Bill outshines me 10 fold in that area.

  5. Thank you for emphasizing the importance of community spirit, Bill. While fostering unity is essential, we must also address specific governance challenges to ensure every voice in our community is heard. RCSC should integrate community engagement with concrete steps toward transparent and accountable governance. Otherwise, I am beginning to think that outside intervention may be necessary.
