While we members are "responsible" for governance of the RCSC, I see no way to do so in practice... we have no actionable authority due to quorum changes. (As an aside, less than a quorum of voters can elect a board? How is that legal?) And yes, shame on us for not getting 3500 members (now 1250) to vote down the board's action... but the RCSC makes it darned hard to organize dissent. How great would it be if they had a welcoming response to alternative ideas instead of the punitive repercussions so freely dealt out.

The position espoused by a litany of board members over the past decade... that "they control the RCSC, not the members" is an unhealthy attitude in oh so many ways. It's the very root of the RCSC problem for me. I guess I just can't get past the Articles of Incorporation... "To do anything and everything lawfully necessary in the interest of the Members..." As long as member viewpoint is suppressed the RCSC is failing in their chartered duties.

Welcome to TOSC IC, way to start out your first post with a bang. I do agree with you, wholeheartedly. The changes we have had shoved down our throats to the governing documents has bee shameful; and to do it under the auspices of it being good for us is pure and utter nonsense. Kind of like when Jim Jones had all those folks jug-a-lug that Kool aid eh?
