The current help for low income residents from Epcor for water use is a paltry $4.01 credit. Not even worth the effort to
apply for this. I would expect the low income assistance for waste water to be only slightly higher.

Here are some very interesting links that relate directly to the
current and on-going Consolidation rate case with Epcor.

Of particular note is the 23 million dollar balloon payment that
    affected Anthems rates.

Also of interest is the fact that Anthem petitioned the ACC for
de-consolidation from Agua Fria in 2012 and won that case. They were
de-consolidated from Agua Fria. Now however, both Agua Fria and
    Anthem want consolidation back.

Anthem appears to have much more community involvement regarding
rate cases as they show up at the ACC hearings in large numbers
with petitions in hand. Sun City on the other hand seems to take
a wait and see attitude and only attends Epcors explanation of
the rate case. Epcor only presents what the ACC has directed them
to provide. They do not decide this case. The ACC is where all
Sun City’s efforts must be directed.

Without massive Sun City community involvement (like petitions) at all
public hearings, the outcome of this rate case will be decided in favor of
    consolidation.

Please click on the link then go to documents and you will see the letter RCSC sent to the ACC on
July 22 in opposition to full consolidation - Arizona Corporation Commission eDocket
Letters are starting to roll in. It will take a
    continuous bombardment.

I have just finished going through the various comments at the link provided. Although these comments can't hurt, the
fact that they are canned responses (both in favor and opposed) probably will not convince the ACC to disallow full
consolidation. The edocket only allows for so many words to be sent and that is probably why 95% of the comments
all say basically the same thing. Letters or emails are needed to each member of the ACC with more detail for your
opposition. I have personally sent a 5 page document to the ACC detailing my objections to full consolidation. I did
not mention that I am on a fixed income as that probably is not relevant.

After the elections and new members are elected to the ACC, I will resend my opposition document to the new members.

I also noticed a section "Consent to email service". How does one get on this service. Nowhere have I seen mention of this
and it might be beneficial for all interested parties to be added to this list. The more people are informed of both favor for and
opposition to consolidation might provide the impetus for individuals to show up at each and every ACC public hearing.

The opposition comments are a positive, but we need each and every Sun City resident to file their opposition.

My biggest concern is that Anthem wants us to help them pay for their 23 million balloon payment that was already
spread out over 3 years. We don't use the Anthem infrastructure and we don't use their water treatment plants. Why
should we have to help them repay that 23 million.

Don't want to be a wet blanket here, but most people aren't going to be interested in (or capable of) writing letters with facts and figures. The reality is we turn on our tap and we get water, we flush the toilet and the crap goes away. Beyond that, it's pretty much a mystery. Worse yet, the Anthem folks and the other districts are looking at huge savings while our costs will rise, their reductions are far greater and have an even bigger incentive to scream louder.

The point i'm making here is if we are going to have some sort of large scale impact, it might be in SHOA's best interest (and ours) to start a point of production where they set up an area where folks can stop at their office and get some help writing and generating these letters. I know it's more work, but without it i fear the number of letters we send will be minimal compared to the other water districts getting the huge savings.

Took in the first session on Friday with about 40 others in the room. Greg Eisert, Ida's dad :biggrin-new: did a great job of filling in the gaps on both the waste water issue and the APS rate case/on-demand efforts to stick us with higher costs. It is imperative for Sun City residents to rally around the waste water/consolidation matter before the Arizona Corporate Commission (ACC).

If they vote for consolidation, we will have seen our waste water costs go from $19 to $41 in just over 5 years. Shameful.

SCHOA has made it pretty simple; they have form letters to be filled out and will deliver them every month through at least the end of the year. It is critical residents get involved in this fight or we will be paying for 6 other communities waste water bills.

Thank you, Bill!... You are a great cheerleader for the community!
Community involvement is definitely the key to get positive results. It
is definitely a tireless job. Cloning you is an option. :)
