I have Fourstar Dental Plan. For age over 60, it is $35 per year. The deal is you have to pay when you have a visit. I am changing dentists to get one closer to me - on Coggins just south of Grand in Sun City. If you are interested, call 1-800-622-8489 and request information. They are prompt at sending it.
I have used Fourstar and it is pretty good. We also have a branch of a dental college in Sun City--a little known fact.
Midwestern University Clinic is located at the College of Dental Medicine--Arizona Dental Institute at 19369 N. 59th Ave, Glendale, AZ 85308. Their phone is 623-806-7000. They also have an eye institute there and I went to it and was pleased. I never had any dental treatment there but did go to the Sun City branch campus at Royal Oaks. Have to track down the exact address, but it was very pleasant, almost like going to a resort since Royal Oaks is such a classy place. Like to eat at their cafe too. P.S. The Royal Oaks office phone is 623.815.4206 and the supervising dentist is Thomas Sigrist, DDS and his email is tsigrist@midwestern.edu He's very good at answering questions
hello - Pegmih --I also have the Fourstar Dental Plan and am truly pleased with the program. My dentist is located close to Sun City - -just North of Peoria on 99th Ave. His dental hygienist is wonderful and very gentle when she cleans your teeth ! That is a plus ! I have been using them now over 3 years...and very satisfied.
May I ask the name of your dentist? If I don't like this new one I might try yours. Name please. I was going to Bright Now located at 83rd & Union Hills in Walmart shopping center. My friend goes to the new one I will be going to. She is on the Fourstar list. In Sun City On Coggins and about 103rd I think. Can't remember her name but there aren't too many lady dentists listed. The first dentist I went to in SC sold his practice without notifying me. Bad move. That is when I changed to Bright Now. Unfortunately, I keep getting a different dentist there. Each one has a new "plan" ie. remove all silver fillings (a no no), deep root planeing (sp and a don't want). And how about a couple of crowns? (reason not given)
hello - Pegmih --- My dentist is Dr. Owens - located off Peoria on 99th Ave. His phone: 623 - 583- 7075. He is good and his hygienist is even better ! ! I go twice a year for teeth cleanings & X Rays. And they take the Fourstar Insurance Plan. AND - - in reply to your "different dentist" I had a similar Dental Place I went to - -every time I would go -- a new dentist... I thought --this must be a "practice clinic - - the new dentists practice on me ! ! ! so - I left and found Dr. Owens. However, I think all dentists have THE PLAN - - as you mentioned.....my previous Group of Dentist told me to have a crown removed - -(which was a fairly new crown) and check the tooth underneath - - Dr. Owens also mentioned this same tooth - - and said THEE PLAN would require removing crown - root canal possibly - - drill here, drill there etc. and a big Cost for the plan was presented (from both dentists) on paper. I refused their plan and mentioned that my teeth had their own plan - - when I get a tooth ache - I will inform them - - ....This plan (of theirs) all began over 8 years - - no pain for me - at all -- - so no plan !- thankfully ! ! I think Dentists as well as Docs. have to warn patients -- with the --"in case of stuff" --anyway try this Dentist -- you might like him - - I do.
Peg... I think we may have had the same dentist.... After having quite a bit of work done I went to Colorado for the summer. I needed some adjustments on a partial and called when I got back to Sun City only to find the office closed and the dentist gone. I got a letter later giving me a referral to another dentist. Really? I havent found another dentist yet.... Looking up the four star insurance I see they are in AZ and CO, I think I will give them a call.
The first dentist I had did not close his office. He "sold" his business to another dentist. I don't think doctors or dentists have the right to "sell" a patients's information but I could be wrong. I agree with Anita Mae. We have to be our own "patient". Also, I too began to think Bright Now was a starting point for dentists because I got a different one each time. I don't mean to knock Bright Now. They are super clean. I tried a dentist in Walgreen Center 99th & 103. Do NOT go there. It is a rinky dinky kind of place and they don't even have a bathroom. You have to get a key from doc and go outside to the public one.
I looked Up Dr. Owens on the internet and he does not list FourStar as one of the insurance plans he accepts. Perhaps I will call and ask if I don't like new dentist.
Don't believe everything you see on the Internet, Pegmih - - If you need a new dentist and he has your type of insurance - - he is a keeper !
I have a Dentist Referral in Los Algodones: Been going to Dr. Mayra for years. Yesterday, had two crowns and teeth cleaning all for $470.00. I highly recommend Dr. Mayra. Here is her link with contact information: www.dentalhills.alg (copy and paste in your browser.) Allow about 3 hours time to get to Algodones. Take 101 south as it avoids all the construction west with the 303.
Here is a better direct link to Dr. Mayra in Algodones: http://www.algodones.mx/detalle.php?ClaveCliente=13498
