The question was posed, why did i return? As you may have noted, nary a post in the Sun City thread. I only came back because a poster started turning this site into a support trump shit show. She already does it on a local Facebook page with about 5 followers, so when she started here, i fired up the keyboard.

That was last Sunday, 5 short days ago. In that time i never once attacked anyone posting on this site personally. I despise trump and all he stands for. I feel sorry for those who have bought into his con game. They are grown-ups and who they want to support is their choice, as it should be.

We disagree on a lot but i always try and remain civil. I quit the site because i saw no upside in arguing with fellow Sun City residents. It wasn't until the trump crap started flowing that i began pushing back. There are volumes of trump's crazy statements that can be found with the click of the mouse. I don't have to make any of it up, it's all right there.

There's statements from former cabinet members and staffers. Truth social posts and the jackpot of all are the daily press conferences during the pandemic. I haven't even begun to reach back into that treasure trove for his best hits. Then if we really want to get nasty, there's hundreds of videos from January 6. Each and every one of them reminders of trump's last days in office and how graciously he accepted defeat. And to be clear, he lost.

My preference is to do none of it. Frankly after the latest rant, the ugly accusations of who and what i am (oh by the way, she posted it on the Facebook page), it would be better for everyone involved if it ended here. We're not going to change anyone's mind by what we post. To have anyone say the awful things posted above about those of us who are voting blue is just pitiful and pathetic. It is what it is.

To be clear, i celebrate the Sun City way of life every day. I have no malice towards anyone. I dislike trump, immensely. After 48 years of sobriety i say thanks to my higher power every night when my head hits the pillow. I'm voting blue because i choose joy. Thanks to Harris and Walz for bringing it back.

To further compound my doubts, i've been involved with a Facebook group, Sun City Chat Arizona for a couple of years now. The past year i've helped out as an administrator. I try to post at something at least daily, sometimes more. Mostly history, but also community events and stuff.

This past weekend, i did something strange; i grabbed a screen shot of Mad's Alfred E Neumann (of "What Me Worry" fame) and asked the simple question about Sun City: Does Anyone Care? It was a test and honestly gang, most of you failed. I got 11 responses and even less likes. No, i don't care about likes, i care about whether the members of that site care enough to respond. Because if not, the paradigm shift is dead in the water.

Bill, I am tiring of you standing in judgement of everyone else. Please express your opinions without trying to slight other people or claim the moral high ground. (Anyone familiar with organizational structure in non-profits...) And yes, I am acutely aware members of this board seek your advice on board matters. A fact I am not comfortable with, but it is what it is.

So on to the subject at hand. I have had many meaningful conversations with highly respected members who held Board leadership positions and the conclusion we come to is this. This Board just needs to stop or be stopped before they do too much financial harm to the RCSC. No libraries, an indoor dog training facility and an orchestra pit show just how out of touch the board is with its members.

On the rare occasion someone introduced a thread, we pushed back. There simply was no added value in trying to build a sense of community when it occurred. There's thousands of political sites out there to comment on. Sites that like and want that kind of acrimony, it draws eyes and clicks.

Since you brought it up, let's be really straight-forward: You showed up here because you got booted by both Nextdoor and Sun City Chat. Neither solicit or allow the ugly political rhetoric. I was one of the admins on Chat and i did boot you for failing to follow groups rules. I no longer am, but the same rules still apply and crap posters are still being booted.

You are right about this, there is no administration on here and oddly we all survived nicely without the current ugliness. That all came once you showed up.
