Disappointed and frustrated; time for a change

I was introduced to Talk of Sun City back in 2020. I found it to be a valuable tool in understanding our history as well as invaluable in keeping up with current events occurring in our community. Most of the posters were courteous, stuck to the topic of the thread, and were clearly voicing their opinions. As we have learned with social media, we, the reader, has a choice: read it, read it and comment, read it and move on.

As of late, TOSC is no longer a valuable tool for me. Several members have turned it into their own personal email threads back and forth; some are pleasant and reminiscing back and forth but not on topic while others (in my opinion) are disturbing and inflammatory. Yes, I have taken my own advice: I read and have decided to move on.

I can no longer participate in this group. It has become a waste of my time. I have decided, instead, to find other avenues to fill my time. I am going to volunteer at one of the clubs at RCSC, and I am searching for another place to volunteer my time to help out the members of this community who might need a helping hand. Perhaps this could be accomplished through SCHOA or Sun City CAN, or Meals on Wheels, or transporting folks to appointments or working at the local food bank. We are fortunate to have a variety to choose from. The one thing that I wish I knew how to accomplish was to list all the opportunities available to us who want to volunteer in one place where we could preview the list and pick and choose. That is one thing the community is lacking.

I know that I did not need to announce my decision or departure from the TOSC community, but I chose too because I sense the same frustration and disappointment from many of you and hope that you, too, can find another avenue to share your expertise.

It's too bad that a few have ruined it for so many.

I'm one in your camp, and I'm sorry I took the time to create a new email just to get verified to respond. Waste of time. Not a good look for Sun City in the least. Although, I'm a supporter of free speech (respectful), there are limits and apparently this site does not have a good discerning moderator in where the line should be drawn.

 

TOSC has definitely deteriorated. I completely agree with You Jean. It is no longer a place of useful information.

 

Just my opinion but by leaving I believe you are punishing yourself for the inadequacies, ignorance and rudeness of others.

I believe the best solution is to simply not respond to either of those who continue to post confrontational comments.

This blog has many great things to offer if used correctly. I have found more information from this blog than from the RCSC e-mail blasts as well as the history lessons regarding Sun City!

No...I will not give in to the petty ignorance of others and allow them to win. I will continue to read this sight and offer as much positive and accurate information that I can.

I just will no longer read or respond to certain individuals!

 

My very first interaction when I joined TOSC on 12/6 /2023. It was so welcoming. You all are looking for a scapegoat and Lord knows it cannot be Bill so it's me.

By the way, i never gave you authorization to post my materials from this site on a Facebook page. You might want to check with those attorneys you've hired to sue the RCSC on whether you can legally do that without permission.

Oh wait, you're moving out of SC because you hate it here. Oh wait some more; how can you be the happy hippie when you are so busy hating on stuff?

Nobody gives even one shit who you are; no one. Your self-inflated sense of worth is almost beyond comprehension. It's fine to love yourself, expecting others to when your whole purpose is to blow stuff up is crazy.

Surrendering total participation to those who purposely choose discord sacrifices the opportunity, while more limited, to maintain positive sharing of information, discussion and respectful discussion.

Wish it hadn’t come to this.

You would know. You were right on Bill's tail in the hate and dox Josie parade. I wonder how things would have turned out if Bill and never made that statement on December 6, 2023 which was my 1st day on this site. That was his "Welcome to the site". Do you think he set the tone Chris?

 

Personally, I've used the IGNORE feature here. It's actually kind of funny to see other people's responses to posts I can't see. Those that I ignore asked for it. Wish granted. Makes me happier

 

Back for one final time and hopefully i can forewarn all of you. There's way more to the story how and why HH showed up on TOSC; suffice to say she was angry at EO and me as admins on other sites. Her hostile remarks simply weren't tolerated. Sadly, TOSC has never had a moderator or administrator that was hands-on. In all the years we functioned fine self-policing. That all changed when she joined.

I quickly came to ignore her, but the personal attacks never stopped. In fact, when i quit TOSC, they got worse. No big deal either way, but you all need to know this: Things you post on this site or on other blogs are being cut and pasted and posted on an obscure Facebook page and shared with the group members there. There's not many group members, but it is a Sun City Facebook page. No surprise the cutting and pasting of remarks seldom contains the vitriol and nastiness that resulted in the responses.

Many thanks for all the good times and good years we shared on this site. I never understood the upside for the owners of TOSC but as Jean noted it offered us a place to vent and learn and grow. As noted in my last posted thread on this site; we can all do better.

 

That is complete and utter bullshit as usual. Dave et al attacked. Chris and I were linked on Nextdoor when she was a trump supporter. Yes I have the private messages with her dissing liberals and supporting Trimp. It was only after she became a regular here things changed. Yes I can post those messages for all to see. You did not ignore me Bill. You came at me like a bull in a china shop, and I have all these pages of threads saved in a non editable form back to my first day here which was 12/6/23 so even if you delete your snark I have it.

Not cutting and pasting. It's the whole enchilada Bill. Not your stuff with one exception. Most can't get thru your 10k word posts about SC History. I did a search here for grins and searched SC History posted by you and it came back with 200 posts and that was only from mid 2022 to current. Mr. Roloff is the true historian, and he does because he enjoys it, not for the pats on the back and applause. He just quietly does his thing in the background. Maybe you should emulate him.

You will be back Bill. It's just your nature. And BTW there are plenty of posts with you telling Trump supporters and others who did not agree with you to take their crap sandwiches and go to another site. You are not a sweet little old man. Not surprised to see this site hit the skids. This is the second time this has occurred.
Will it happen again - you bet.
This site never really had many contributors. Always the same people posting. Very few new posters.
Most of the people posting are wannabes's anyway.
Me, I don't wannabe anyone or anything other than myself. I give my opinion like most and that's it.
Maybe the next rendition of this site will be better and policed.
Facebook, Twitter, and all those other pure social media sites are not for me. Lady Ga Ga had it right
they are the toilet of the internet.

 

I have said that myself (not the lady gaga thing, not a fan), however this site from the start has only ever had less than 10 regular posters. the rest come and go, operative word go, after being verbally beaten up for not agreeing. The hate posts started in 2013 and continued. He loves his little chit chat room on FB but that has an interesting start as well (someone targeting SC and SCW for political campaign money) which I will share later.

 

I completely understand the frustration of many with some people's obsession with lashing out on social media. In the absence of consistent and credible information from our elected or employed officials we are simply trying to understand who is on first by exchanging observations of who said what and to express meaningful views of what we would like to see in our community. As I believe Janet Curry said best, secrecy isn't working.

 

People can have different opinions. I am a conservative and my dearest friend is liberal. We still love each other. What I don't get is eg. Bill's first post to me here which set the tone for all 10 or 11 people who post here. There is something very wrong with that. (see above post) The justification for that "unwelcome" on 12/6 (my first day here) related to years past. We all know Bill can't let go of SC history, I didn't know he could not let go of any history. If it were not for Bill there may have been a lot more engagement here, but he chased a lot away with his take your crap sandwich and leave line. Where did Tom McClain go?

In the greater scheme of things none of this really matters.

If you would like to see some positive interaction between SC residents I suggest you join Nextdoor and check out the EV Charging station thread. It's not the same 5 people posting their same opinions over and over ad nauseum.

It is a lot of different people agreeing about what they want to see (or not see) in SC sans a Grand Puba directing verbal traffic. A statement was posted, people get to speak without someone telling them to take their crap sandwich and get out. Interaction as it should be. Chris and her band of leads have had me kicked off that site many times and Bill banned me from his site on FB. That is not the way it should be. Your statement "That is far from being a positive thread. Looks like lots of uninformed people" is your opinion and I wish you would take a stand and post it. You must have an account or you would not have commented. Afraid?

just because someone is paranoid or overly suspicious about others plotting against them, it doesn't necessarily mean that there isn't actually a real threat or danger present. It serves as a reminder that being overly cautious or distrustful might actually be warranted in certain situations, and that it's important to not dismiss someone's concerns

 

I didn’t write that, you are wrong. I doubt you will put that on your cover page. BTW, cover page for what and can I get a signed first edition, first printing? I collect first editions.
