Congratulations to those elected to serve on the Board and thanks to those who ran in this election for your willingness to serve the community.
And congrat's to the RCSC for such a quick announcement. I didn't really expect to see anything until tomorrow! I believe we're finally on the right transparency track!
Good to get the e-blast results! Disappointed our RCSC News & Information Center failed breaking this news until around 9pm. “We Break the News for RCSC Members/Cardholders. Committed to transparency and to being your first resource for Recreation Centers of Sun City news.” https://suncityaz.org/news/
There were fewer votes, 2,015 this year, 2,617 in 2022. Not that much difference to account for the speedy results. Thanks called for to the RCSC Election Committee for improvements to the process?!
I like that RCSC released the voting counts for each candidate. I don't think that was done last year.
Excerpt from January 2023 SunViews The RCSC Board of Directors elections concluded on December 13, 2022 with much higher member/voter participation than any RCSC election in recent years. The number of ballots cast in this year’s election totaled 2,617 (Online via the RCSC Web Portal 2,076, In- person 254, Absentee 255). The successful candidates elected to serve on the RCSC Board beginning in 2023 for full three-year terms are: • John Fast who received 1,873 votes (left), • Steve Collins who received 1,802 votes (right), and • Jean Totten who received 1,722 votes (center).
There was a long period where they didn't show any vote totals; i like the idea of knowing how many members voted. Of course these don't reflect the actual number of voters when most ballots cast allow for 4 votes for ballot.
It's going to be an eye-opening experience as this new slate has their plate full for the coming year. My real hope is the board can come together and work more cohesively. The divisiveness was all too often apparent at open meetings. There's nothing wrong with disagreements, there's something terribly wrong when it appears they are butting heads over issues that need to be resolved.
Congratulations to the new Board members! Good luck and I think they will make progress on the issues that RCSC needs to address.
I know they've got their hands full and there will be a learning curve, but the new board needs to hit the ground running. I am truly hopeful the management team leans into the effort to help them become focused and more pointed in their direction.
One of the more positive aspects of the new board is at least 3 of the candidates elected have sat through most of the SAC meetings. And, the 4th once he announced he was running started attending them as well.
Not been as involved in candidates and board activities lately, so I am coming in on the back end of a previous thread. I was reading the posts about the election and the results and it is still disappointing that there are still so few residents getting out and voting for RCSC governance. so with this new board did we end up with a fairly balanced system or do we have a special interest group in power? Had to ask after having been through what was experienced by board members in the past. Also how it shaped the community for years. Thanks to everyone who ran.
Speaking of the Sun City Advocates, we are now 10/10 in candidates endorsed over the past three RCSC elections. Not bad for an organization that wasn't needed or wanted eh?
