I was very reluctant to make this post but after thinking about it more and more it just kept eating away at me. This is something everybody should and needs too know about!

At yesterday's board meeting, and prior to its start, Director Collins approached a few members of the Sun City Advocates and with great anguish and reluctance he explained how he was going to withdraw two of the three amendments that were up for a vote and expressed somewhat confident that the board was going to approve the third motion, which was the one that would allow signatures to be collected on RCSC property.

We were disappointed that he was withdrawing those two amendments and you could see that he wasn't really very happy about doing so either because he gave us his word at the annual membership meeting that he would present those amendments at the upcoming board meetings.

Assuming there was some typical back-room negotiations among the board members we half-heartedly accepted the decision Director Collins had made!

Well.....low and behold and not really unexpected the board stabbed him the back and voted NO on that amendment!

So folks, nothing is new this year that we didn't experience from last year. The board still meets in small groups behind closed doors and decides on things before the next meeting. Never enough members to constitute a quorum or unauthorized meeting, but just enough to get their own ducks in a row on how they can out maneuver the other board members.

I think we all see and know who belongs to the different factions of the board. I also find it interesting how President Lehrer sometimes votes and sometimes not!?!?!? Hmmmm!

Looks like we're in for another year of discontent! Buckle-up and sign-up for the Sun City Advocates Newsletter e-mails. Send your request to: http://eepurl.com/hSIQeT

Did Mr Collins give a reason why he was withdrawing the motions?

It was apparently his belief that if he withdrew his 2 amendments they would pass his third?!?

Both are up and i would strongly encourage watching the It one especially. Regarding the comments FYI made above, you can clearly see Director Collins pulled his first motion with much difficulty on his part. I know he had committed to making motions on the three he had because he felt compelled to because they were drafted and passed by a straw poll at the annual membership meeting. The second motion got a vote and if memory serves me, President Lehr voted no. He then introduced the third motion and that failed as well. Same shit, different day.

The best news of the entire day was when president Lehr admitted special meetings called by the membership are wholly different than annual membership meetings. When i spoke i called out people to not waste their time with a recall effort but to channel that energy to getting the 3200 needed votes and then we force them to hold the special meeting. Dale quickly tried to take back her words, but alas, it isn't her words that matter, it's the Articles of Incorporation that matter. I know they want to hide behind the by-laws but they cannot be in conflict with the Articles. Sorry but it is what it is.

Too bad that bad politics are taking place at the RCSC level. It is disturbing to me to watch so much inaccurate information steering the behavior of the RCSC board. I cringe every time a law, statue, articles of incorporation and bylaws are misrepresented. Bill P. is good person to point these things out.

Kind words Bob but we all make mistakes. Just yesterday i had to be corrected regarding one of the By-laws while at the mic. The important thing is to just accept and admit when you are wrong...sadly that doesn't happen very often with the board (admitting when they are wrong). Of course the other problem is over the past 15 years the by-laws have been shredded and rewritten to read like crap to insure members rights be flushed and our voices squashed. Kind of sad in my humble opinion.

Good point. I make my share of mistakes, as well. I appreciate when someone sets me straight with empathy and not a hammer. Thank you.
