My guess is you will be hard pressed to get answers to this one E, but before i head to Bell Rec Center for a workout, let me throw several things at you; In 20 years, there will be at least two less private country clubs in SC. The land under them is way too valuable to waste on a sport that makes the owners no money. They will be built into high end condo's that will sell for 300 to 500K per unit. That will add several thousand card holders to the mix. There will be at least 20 clubs (more likely more) that will cease to exist. The next wave of retirees will have little interest in the clubs the greatest generation built. A like number of clubs will arise, demanding things that we cannot even picture today.

By then, the need for more/better club space will push the RCSC to quit pretending they are fine by maintaining the status quo. An aggressive leadership driven board will finally emerge and they will find a way to buy the Lakes Club and the 38,000 square feet it offers. All administrative functions will move there and the Lakeview Rec Center will be remodeled to accommodate club needs. Hopefully they will save the structure as it is unique and an important part of our history. The Lakes Club will become the central location and the only true Community Center. They will develop the shoreline adjacent to the lake and will create wonderful walking paths around the "mountain" and area now housing the car club and the warehouse with picnic areas and gathering places.

The tragedy is we could have been well on our way to this already, but for the shortsightedness of the management and the board.

    More to come, stay tuned.

PS: If you aren't following, you should be; Sun City West is going through an extensive evaluation of current club space allocations and club membership. Understanding the future is in part understanding trends. It's really not all that difficult if you are willing to spend some time and effort at it.

60-80 year old homes in need of replacement.
    Millennials turning 55.
Mid rise condos, replacing strip malls.
Few car owners, with driverless "on demand" transportation, increased mass transit. Probably light rail running east/west.
A third airport, located far NW.
    Severe water issues.
    AZ a solid "blue state".

Fix raises an interesting take; as self driving vehicles become more common place, the potential for some sort of internal shuttle system within the community becomes more possible. For now, maybe we should just opt for those goofy scooters everywhere so folks can buzz about eh? Geez, can you imagine 100's of those little buggers zipping up and down Del Webb Blvd? Scary to even begin to visualize.
