That is so cool to have that service. I hope it always continues. Is it a popular volunteer activity or do they have a problem filling needed slots?
All Posse members are volunteers. The people who are on patrol check the houses. They also check churches and other places. I work at the front desk. As summer approaches people come in and fill out a Vacation Watch form. Other volunteers enter the information into a computer. As summer ends people either call in that they have returned or come to the Posse where a form is completed saying that they have returned. New volunteers are always welcome. Come on in and apply. There are a variety of jobs. BTW. Heed the warning regarding theft of garage door openers. It isn't quite at convenient as the visor, but I now keep mine in the middle console.
When I re-read my threat title, I'm not sure it was a good title -- the Posse certainly shouldn't be referred to as "dogs". I hope no one took it that way!
The Sun City Posse cruises around our neighborhoods and "watches" for strange occurrences. Back in the early 90's - -when my Mom & Dad lived here, My mother had severe Alzheimers...she wandered out of their home here in Sun City. My father had no idea she had left - as it was early a.m. - -like 5am...he was still asleep. The Sheriff Posse found my mother---who had fallen in the street. They contacted my Dad, ambulance came, a broken hip...etc. etc. Our Sheriff Volunteer Posse is MARVELOUS ! !---then and now !!! Watch Dogs - -yes, in many wonderful ways !
Cute. I'm sure Commander got a kick out of the Posse being called "Watch Dogs" Actually, initially I thought you were talking about real dogs!
While working the front desk at the Posse I have been asked many unique questions. If don't have an answer, I find someone who does. It is a fantastic group that is willing to help all.
