Way Too Much Fun... One of the fastest growing activities in senior communities is Life Long Learning; and Sun City is no exception. Years ago we ha had a program with the Osher Life Long Learning program at ASU, but it was expensive. In an effort to create our own in-house program, several people in the community started the Sun City Life Long Learning club. 10 years later, it has turned out to be one of the best bargains around with an annual cost of $20 and vast array of classes offered in the fall and spring. The yearly fee gets you access to any of the classes that aren't filled at registration. I've written often about my good friend Ben Roloff and his tireless efforts at the AZ Historical Library. He's spent countless hours pouring over micro-film of our two newspapers and accumulating data that exists nowhere else in the free world. Yesterday he put on a class for the club called "A Gaggle of Giggles." It was a fast two hour program of stories from those early years that were fun-filled and fascinating. What jumped out out me was while many of the anecdotes were particular to the 60's and 70's, there are still similar stories to be had from recent years. As much as time and technology changes, people and their nuances stay the same. It's just another great feature in the amazing Sun City lifestyle.
