Taking D supplementation is controversial. According researchers at the International Prevention Research Institute in Lyon, France, low vitamin D levels are a symptom not a condition. That low levels are likely caused by disease-related inflammation. Inflammation is associated with a wide range of diseases, which could explain why vitamin D deficiency appears linked to so many conditions. Many advise against supplementation. It can increase fracture risk. http://www.forksoverknives.com/vitamin-d-supplements-are-harmful-sunshine-and-food-determine-health/ http://www.i-pri.org/further-doubt-...min-d-supplementation-for-disease-prevention/
Very interesting. My primary doc suggested Vit D so I am taking it. Who/what can you believe these days? Coffee good one year and bad the next ad infinitem.
I was taking it too, but stopped. I never understood really how a vitamin that is only produced by time in the sun could be properly synthesized. You can't get too down on the changes because that's science. By its nature is made to change as new methods of research are found and new discoveries are learned. The reason to take it was never properly studied in the first place, it was more of a hunch. I did see my D levels increase when I started taking it but that doesn't mean I solved the problem of why. In general I don't believe in taking supplemental vitamins. Most studies have shown them useless and often harmful. I do take a B12 once a week because I'm vegan. Other than that, I use food to get my vitamins.
