I will withhold any commentary and simply share this piece with the TOSC community; other than to say, this may be the missing piece of the marketing puzzle that will put Sun City over the top. Gray hair goes green: Sun City marijuana clinic sees line out door White Mountain Health Center President Butch Williams said he is thankful he made a risky business decision to open up the dispensary when many others had shied away from the opportunity. "A lot of people kind of turned away from the Sun City community thinking that this was a more conservative, more religious right-wing kind of place," Williams said. The deciding factor to open the dispensary was when the medical marijuana advocate witnessed the health ailments many Sun City residents face. The shop has been open for several months and Williams said he has a line out the door of patients ranging from 60 to 90 very morning at 7 a.m. Read the rest of the story here at KTAR News.
Is this expected to be controversial? Maybe I have lived in WA State too long, I'm now desensitized to this these headlines. Depending on the route I take home from work I pass at least a 6 to 10 Rx and recreational pot shops (recreational pot being legal in WA state and Colorado).
Hey J_ everything in Sun City is controversial. We have so few serious issues to deal with, we look for anything to get the old heart racing. Actually there are some who expect to see the question of recreational pot on the ballot in the next year or two. Given the sorry state of education in this state and the deficits the politicians (primarily righties) have dug us all into, pot may well be the only way to begin to bail ourselves out. Enough politics, pass that doobie and turn up the volume...life is good in Sun City with or without the weed.
Will Sun City benefit with tax revenues? And how is the money safety issue handled? Banks wont work with pot businesses because its not federally legal. So they transact with cash only and have difficult security issues moving/keeping so much cash. At least Colorado has had these issues.
The Youngtown shop is on Michigan just west of 111th Avenue. They've got a website: http://swellfarmacy.com/
