With record highs predicted over the next few days, keep in mind the backyard wildlife that may benefit from a little help. I keep a low-lipped water dish in the shade under our tangelo tree and the visitors are varied. I've seen several of the lizards take a drink along with baby quail, rock doves and even a rabbit. I don't provide any food but keep the water dish clean and filled. It is also important to keep the hummingbird feeders filled and changed frequently in this hot weather. We just put two gallon jugs of water in our trunk in case we are stranded because you never know when you might be stuck in a traffic jam with roads closed down. Stay safe and keep hydrated! Check on elderly neighbors as a fall outside in this weather can turn serious in a short amount of time.
