It is indeed nice to see posters get exactly what I have been trying to say for the past several weeks on this site. The comments have been spot on and no matter what happens this Thursday, Sun City will be better for it. For too long this air of silence has held us back from the kinds of discussions that are so important for this community to grow forward. As a community we are different, unique. While the rest of the country has drifted, we have maintained the values built into Sun City. We are proud of those differences. We don't want to see them become obsolete or ignored. We believe that people matter and to treat them as if they don't makes us less as a community. I know and like each and every member of the board (some more than others). I suspect they wonder why I am attacking them; the fact is, i'm not. I'm attacking what they are doing and questioning why they are doing it. Hell, if the readers get it (some that don't even live here yet), so should you. Sun City was built on the concept of self-governance. We still understand the importance of the collective process. It's how it all began and it should be one of the tenets we never, ever loose sight of. We are not a community of 9 board members and a paid staff who are the sole decision makers. We are 40,000+ people who love what we have and don't want to see it change in ways most of us won't like. I said that as a board member and I say it sitting at this keyboard. I say it because I care about Sun City and I don't want it to become what is going on outside these white walls. We've got too much going for ourselves to let a bad decision made in haste hurt our course of action; or to let ego's get in the way of doing the right thing. So again, thank you to those who get it...makes it all worth while.
Bill, your eloquence of word and thought is what has made this board a great place to visit and post. Thank you for your time, your input, and your intelligence. Please keep up the great work to keep Sun City the great place it is, you do the community proud.
