Does anyone know of a good swamp cooler technician? I have a swamp cooler as well as a heat pump. I was ignoring the swamp cooler until my handyman told me they were great...they don't dry the air out as much and are cheaper to operate. He recently moved here and had ignored his for a while until someone told him to use it. He also told me that many HVAC people do not know much about swamp coolers so I'm looking for someone who does.
We use Sun City Mechanical(located in Youngtown) for all our HVAC and plumbing needs. I'm sure you can contact them about your specific model. They do have a website www.SunCityMechanical.com
All good points to remember Emily, it is sad to see anyone take advantage of someone else. Too bad I don't live in AZ yet, I have fixed my neighbor's swamp cooler a few times over the years. A swamp cooler is a wonderful invention and probably one of the most simple pieces of machinery. Most parts can be found at the local ACE hardware and they are really easy to troubleshoot and fix. All bets are off when it comes to an air conditioner/heat pump, I leave those to the pros. I think most companies here in Denver charge about $75 for a service call on a swamp cooler, not including any repairs. Some will credit the $75 to any repairs needed, those are the good guys.
