The showers in the Ladies Dressing Room at Sun Dial are closed.
Except for the 2 handicapped & 2 extra small showers.
This is very awkward when there are 3 pool classes back-to-back.

    Apparently the showers have mold.

I have been told by RCSC that bids for repair have been put out
but a decision will not be made for 3-4 weeks. When work begins,
who knows how long it will take to fix showers. And when work
does begin, I suspect the entire shower area will be closed off.
Hopefully the pool area has a separated water line. If not,
the whole rec center would have to be closed - no bathrooms.
Hello Health Department. Are you listening?

Didn't something happen at Bell pool about this time last year?
Seems like RCSC caters to Snowbirds. A fact that was
    mentioned last year.

Some of the people that use Sun Dial small pool are moderatley to
severely handicapped and would not be able to negotiate other pools.
Fortunately, I am not one of them but I do like my pool time
    out of the sun.

BTW. An On Site shower is required before entering pools or spas.

Anyone besides me on the forum effected?

About 5 years ago the roof at Sun Dial pool collapsed.
Fortunately, no one was there and consequently no injuries.

I am beginning to wonder if the contractor that rebuilt the pool
did a poor job which resulted in the mold. If so, perhaps the
RESC could have recourse against the company. If not perhaps
the maintenance crew should be trained to do a better job.

    Just a thought.

There is an ongoing discussion at the RCSC board of directors right now about not only the showers but the decking around the pool as well. I was told weeks back one of the directors had been contacted by a user who as concerned. They went and took a look which prompted this push to try and right some of the problems there.

No idea what the outcome will be but ultimately the RCSC will fix it. The RCSC Boards' have always been willing to take care of problems, they just need to be able to fit it in to the budget...unless of course it is something that needs immediate action. Then they deal with it right away.

Thank you for the info. I will pass it along to others who are concerned about not having access to an indoor pool.

No matter what, I LOVE SUN CITY, and will continue to tell people
who come to the Visitor Center and considering moving here.

Please keep me posted should you find out more.

Yesterday at Sun Dial pool, I was told that when the roof collapsed, it was fixed but nothing was done to the rest of the pool area. In other words, the showers are still the original showers and therefore they are very old. No wonder there is now a problem.

RCSC is definitely working on the situation. A summer closure would be o.k. because it is warm and people can use the outdoor pools. I understand that the water at that time is even warmer than the water at Sun Dial small pool. When Bell pool was closed last year, people I had met there came to Sun Dial.

That's not quite right peg. Sundial was renovated in 2001 or 2002 (just prior to us moving here). I remember going into the new showers and stating there were every bit as nice as the two health clubs I belonged to in Minnesota. When the roof collapsed they didn't redo the locker rooms, but they didn't need it.

That still makes the showers pretty old.
