SUN CITY ADVOCATES Friday, April 5th, 2024 •We Hold These Truths We have been quiet. However, nothing has changed. We still believe in Communication, Education, and Participation as well as a platform of volunteerism, ownership, and self-governance. • Welcome Back, Jean Personally speaking, I resigned from being involved with the Advocates when I became a Board member; not because I did not believe in them any longer but because I wanted my concentration and efforts to be spent on being a fiduciarily responsible, informed Board member. You know that I recently resigned from my position on the Board. It was not a decision I took lightly. I came to the realization that I can do much more for the Members (and myself) of Sun City as a member of the Advocates than I could as a member of a nine-- person Board. With the permission of the SC Advocates Advisory Panel, I am back. • Attend the Upcoming Exchange Meeting The message today is simple. Please consider coming to the Exchange on Monday, April 8th at 9 am at the Sundial Auditorium. Do not come with signs. Do not come with malicious intentions. Do come with ears open and a readiness for understanding. There are always two sides to every story. You may only know one. Do come, remembering that the members of the community who sit up on that stage are all volunteers. Do come wearing blue. Please check attitudes and egos at the door. • The Friends of Sun City Libraries have created an awesome website as a resource for all things related to the Maricopa County Library issue and Saving Our Sun City Libraries.
