    Just got the August Issue of SunViews with the local paper the other day and they listed the fall lineup of free concerts. For those who don't live here, the SunBowl is an outdoor amphitheater, seating 7500.

    The shows are typically held on Sunday evenings and it's BYOC (bring your own chair). It's an incredible venue, especially as the sun is setting behind you. The grassy levels are enticing and people bring their own beverages of choice. Food trucks are available in the food court out front or you can bring your own munchies.

    The RCSC budgets about $50,000 yearly to cover the costs of 20 to 25 free shows a year. Of late, the level of entertainment has spiked as has the attendance figures.

    Here's the fall schedule:
    * September 27 at 7pm: The Tokens.
    * Oct 4 at 6:30pm: The Hamptons.
    * Oct. 11 at 6:30pm: Alan Jackson Tribiute.
    * Oct. 18 at 6:30pm Let's Dance Band.
    * Oct. 25 at 6:30pm Desert Dixie.
    * Nov. 1 at 6pm Randy Linder's Tribute to Credence Clearwater Revival.
    * Nov. 8 at 6pm Veteran's Day Tribute.

    We break for the holidays (and cooler weather) and start again after the first of the year. Just a reminder: These are free shows for RCSC cardholders and their escorted guests.

    I could have/should have posted this in the Sun Bowl history thread, but thought it might make an interesting contrast here. If you read the intro to Del Webb, you know he built a good part of Las Vegas back in the 50's and 60's. He had offices there and obviously knew many of the entertainers that played the clubs and casino's.

    When Meeker built the Sun Bowl in 1968, he had access to the biggest and brightest stars via Del's connections. Remember, whiel residents saw this as a wondrful asset, DEVCO used it to sell homes. Everybody won.

    Take a look at the flyer below from the early years and see how many of them you recognize:
