I attended last Sunday Sun Bowl concert. Before the music started everyone was meeting friends, talking lively and great energy on a beautiful night. Then came the pre-concert announcements. Various items and then the warning to not talk to friends during the music. My mouth dropped open. What? No talking. I could understand indoors, a symphony, theater or such but this is outdoor rock music. And sure enough the music started and that beautiful energy was now solemn faces staring forward. I guess I'm festival music age and we talk and enjoy during outdoor music. Bummed me out and I left early. Do others like it this way?
I think it's a situation of "know your surroundings". We typically sit at the top of the hill between the palm trees. When the music starts our conversations don't necessarily stop, but we tone it down and the topic usually turns to the music - critiques, quiz, and mostly "what were you doing when this was popular" type stuff. I'm thinking there will be a shift in how things work over the next couple of years. I'll know we have turned a corner when we get a ZZ Top cover band.
I sat at the top of the hill too but not familiar with the area of the palms. I didnt expect a topless brawl but was surprised that people actually obeyed. The spinning lights did make me smile. Bring on the bearded ones then.:bull_head:
