Can anyone recommend reasonably priced places to purchase Southwest Style or Mexican Pots and Decorating Items. I am interested in both indoor and outdoor, open to retail or outdoor fair/craft show places. I would appreciate the information!
Hwy 60 on the way to Wickenburg. There is a little pottery place for all things southwest. I am not sure of prices but my fading memory tells me they were high. A better idea and you would be supporting one of the clubs here is the Sun City Clay club store at the Lake center. The gals in there are very talented and make many, many southwest style things for the home. My favorite is the gecko pot that a few make. You will see the exact same pot in Cave Creek for over $300 sell at our store for far, far less. So many different things it is fun to just poke your head in and look around.
Ever go to Mesa Marketplace? Some of the coolest items to me are the metallic agaves and cacti and they have multiple booths with them so you can compare and contrast and by all means, negotiate. Also, think of a way of securely anchoring them--setting in concrete, etc. Church of the Palms had their multi-tonned metal sculpture stolen.
Too bad people fee they can just take yard decorations. Our neighbor moved her good things to the backyard recently and we have had to move our pink flaming to the back. I am sure the neighbors are relieved but still.... Yard and estate sales here are fantastic for finding southwest goodies. We have found some large pottery at Home Depot and Lowes recently and they are priced around $39. I think this is a bargain for large pots.
There's a place called Creative Iron Patio with 1/2 acre of pottery from around the world, but I have not been there. It's on 24612 N. Grand Ave. in Surprise and phone is 623.544.8661, 2.5 miles west of Loop 303, turn left on Norwich, take first right, and park by the metal horse (I saw their ad and called and the woman answering seemed very nice and said you can't miss the horse).
Prescott Area and Sedona Areas often hold Art Type shows (notice their advertisements in the paper and/or sometimes T.V.) -- - many little tourist type places along the way have a variety of Southwestern Décor. Check out the Goodwill and/or Salvation Army -- sometimes you can find a great buy there. ** there is a very nice but kind of expensive - (unless you hit some sales).... mall-type area in Scottsdale. It is called elPedregal AKA: The Boulders. Beautiful shops with so many beautiful décor items. address is 34505 N. Scottsdale Rd. They also provide live entertainment - Fall Season Thru Spring Season on Sundays. elPedregal.com for more info.
Yes, I have been there. There are actually 2 businesses side by side. Love it but always looking for new places! Thanks!!
