My wife plays tennis all over the West Valley and beyond. She began with league play on a Sun City women's team and then joined any number of others; mostly playing out of Surprise. As she traveled about from community to community, i heard her talk about the gorgeous tennis facilities she played at. Most were in age restricted communities and were absolutely critical to the marketing of that development. It helped sell homes. When the Marinette remodel was scheduled, we decided to eliminate tennis from that facility. That would further reduce the number of courts, as pickleball had already taken over several of the older courts at other venues. We decided on a plan to rebuild the Bell courts which were in need of some attention (that's being very kind). A plan was put in play to move from 8 courts to 10. To do so meant tearing out 40+ year old walls. It was no small project and has been ongoing since last summer. Today i brought a foot stool up and peaked over the walls. Actually i did more than peak, i had the trusty ipad and snapped a couple of shots. Here's one i like as it gives a bit of dimension to just how cool this tennis complex will be: It should be quite the show stopper and sorely needed for the tennis community.
Great news; tomorrow at 8 am the long awaited opening of the 1.7 million dollar Bell tennis courts. I'll run by and drab some photo's in the afternoon, see if I can get some comments.
The Bell courts look great up close and personal and the players said they were wonderful and it was awesome to be back home. Here's a quick shot from under the massive canopy:
