So do you think they will send...

In another thread started by aggie, she posted a link to find the agenda for the motions that will be voted on at the regular monthly board meeting and discussed at the member exchange on Monday Dec 5. If you followed her suggestion to look for yourself, you may have noticed the challenge to finding it if you had not been given explicit instructions.

Often times the word transparency gets used to improve both participation and knowledge of the process of self-governance. More often those on the board and in management respond with we have meetings, the Sun Views and we send out blast emails. Apparently those in power feel that is enough, even though turnout is pretty well limited to a handful of diehards.

It all begs the question: Clearly this increase is significant enough to generate a fair amount of interest; so rather than burying the agenda two clicks deep where 99.3% of the population could never find it, wouldn't it make sense to send a blast email alerting members as to this massive increase and get some input/feedback?

Obviously, this is said with tongue in cheek, because we know from past experience, they have no interest in moving the concept of open governance anywhere near that kind of community interaction.

    Hey Bill,

Check out the "Your West Valley News." Apparently the increases made the front page of today's paper. Headline reads "RCSC plans assessment, other fee hikes", so it appears the news is going to get out there in time for Monday's meeting. This should help get the word out, eh?

Sorry to report that the story is only online not in the Daily News-Sun either Friday or the weekend edition. The story will probably only be headlines in the Independent which won't be out until Wednesday and is too late to inform people about the RCSC Exchange.

This is slightly off this topic but ever since the Daily News-Sun was purchased by that distant media group our local news reporting has suffered greatly. The bulk of the news is gathered from national sources with the only local information being advertising and an occasional vent or obituary.

This weekend's(Sat-Sun-Mon edition) 48 page paper had only two small local items and neither were Sun City stories. Anyone that doesn't have computer access is stuck waiting for news once a week in the Independent or by word of mouth.

Thanks Aggie, I was so excited to see it on the web, thought it would hold until publication. My bad, sorry.
