I will check into this. Yes, SilverSneakers does offer special programs for member-only retirement communities through its FLEX Community Program. This program provides SilverSneakers members access to fitness classes and activities at locations like parks, community centers, and even online, often held within or near retirement communities. Elaboration: FLEX Community Program: SilverSneakers' FLEX Community Program expands fitness options beyond traditional gym settings. It includes a wide variety of classes, such as yoga, tai chi, Zumba, and more. Member-Only Retirement Communities: Many senior living communities participate in the FLEX program, offering SilverSneakers members access to classes within the community or nearby. Convenience and Inclusivity: This program is designed to be more accessible and engaging for older adults, as it provides fitness options at locations that may be more convenient and familiar to them. Online Classes: SilverSneakers also offers online classes through FLEX, allowing members to participate in workouts from the comfort of their own homes. Not all communities participate: It's important to note that not every retirement community will have SilverSneakers classes or be part of the FLEX program. Members should verify with their specific community or with SilverSneakers directly.
Thank you for the update. I am not sure if such a program existed that many years ago. I also don’t know how amenable the GM, at that time, was open to making such a program available to the RCSC members. It could be something to consider for the RCSC members now, since they offer such an option for member only communities.
The other concern is floor space for the exercise area. I attended some exercise classes many years ago and the only availability for attendance was at Marinette center. In order to make the utilization available, there would be a need to improve the amount of floor space available for exercise classes. This could then increase the members participation at the various centers.
Highly unlikely it will fly. The Hatha Yoga Club has been here forever. Too bad it costs so much. I'll just continue with the freebie Silver Sneakers. Board of Directors - Hatha Yoga Club Emily Litella aka Gilda Radner................"Never mind"!!
TY. I did state that on the original comment on another thread. Thought I better start a new topic rather than go off topic on "Is it legal to exclude snowbirds from being directors" where the relevancy was engaging new members who don't use the centers. The SilverSneakers fitness program is known by several other names or related programs, including Renew Active and Silver&Fit. AARP previously offered SilverSneakers, but it is now Renew Active. Renew Active is a popular alternative that provides access to fitness centers and classes, similar to SilverSneakers. Silver&Fit is another option, also offering gym memberships and fitness classes, but it may have different eligibility requirements and participating facilities. Here's a more detailed breakdown: Renew Active: This is a program by UnitedHealthcare that is a replacement for SilverSneakers offered through some Medicare plans. Silver&Fit: This program offers gym memberships and fitness classes, and is also often provided through Medicare Advantage plans. Other programs: There are other programs like Mutually Well and the Secret Gym Program, as well as fitness benefits included in Medigap plans.
