I know, this is a Sun City thread, but i posted it here because the new Sun City West general manager is actually a Sun City resident. His name is William Schwind and has lived in Sun City for a couple of years.

As i followed their search, some folks were arguing for the new GM to be from Sun City West. Their answer was spot on as they said their goal was to find the best candidate for the position, irrespective of where they lived.

I've started several threads on how well and i think Sun City West has done of late as they have taken a much more proactive approach to looking to the future. I suspect much of that comes from the outgoing GM Mike Whitting. Both their 5 year plan and the space allocation efforts have been impressive.

Interesting to note, while i thought it was shortsighted to dump the Del Webb name from their community, they have maintained a much more effective outreach program with the communities residents. They have an interactive blog where they solicit comments, and they are more aggressive in expanding their committees. I suspect in large part because they fall under Title 33, the Planned Communities Statute.

As an example, they just did away with their long range planning committee, but at the same time moved many of those members to the space allocation committee. Simply killing a committee is easy, as we saw when the RCSC dumped our long range planning committee. Replacing it with a better option makes it viable and perhaps even more effective.

Congrats to Bill Schwind on getting the job. Our two communities are unlike any other in the country. Sharing information and working in concert would benefit each of us and hopefully Mr Schwind will embrace that philosophy.
