Under funded and definitely under appreciated for the job they do. It’s a shame that they lack to resources to upgrade our CC&R’s.

    Larry,
It’s not a matter of money but rather The Sun City Home Owners Association (SCHOA) can update the CC&Rs, but significant revisions have not occurred since 1998, likely due to the need for community consensus and the complexity of the amendment process. Adherence to Arizona law and how convoluted the process has become is making it almost impossible for any service organization to improve or apply new tenets or standards. In a nutshell, the legislature has screwed up the language around so many issues, it’s almost impossible to move forward with anything.

Quoting a 2 year old story shows what? There has been no evidence of updates to any of the documents that I have seen presented. Even if they have a team dedicated to making updates, the legislative adjustments alone are enough to keep a gaggle of people busy up to their ears.
Trying to write to community regulations in the midst of the societal and legal hurdles is a full time job, just to stay abreast of the ADA changes and regulations would keep folks awake at night. New emblems for one, honoring the various self identity codes is another. The list goes on forever.
SCHOA has a full time role in the community as it is defined. Could they use an infusion of cash, of course, every service organization in Sun City could. The best way to support SCHOA is to become a member for the nominal fee they charge and be supportive of their fundraising efforts.
