Yesterday my answering machine had a call from "Internal Revenue Service".
Needless to say, I did not reply.
I checked the telephone number and it was definitely a scam.

Today I took the information to the SC Posse and gave it to Commander.
He is going to send it to some Arizona agencies that handles things like that.

We received the same voicemail on our answering machine. It was a robotic voice and I'm sure it would put a scare into some elderly or vulnerable people in our area. Hope they can track them down and charge them with some type of fraud.

I got this call a month or two back and started searching the net. This scam has been going on for years and they've done nothing to try and stop it or catch the creeps. I'm amazed how they let people like this prey on folks and do nothing.

    Shameful.

Yesterday I gave the information to the SC Posse Commander.
He will forward it to the right place.
He suggested I change my telephone number. NO WAY!
An alternative is to let all calls go to answering machined. Again. NO.

    Any suggestions are welcome.
Someone suggested I don't hang up but just put the receiver down until caller hangs up.

These guys are getting sneaky with their scam.
A few months ago I got a call from the local sheriff's dept telling me I had a open case against me for IRS fraud/tax evasion.
The guy was calling from the local sheriff's office number (I verified) and he said I had to call a number, of course the number he gave me was not the IRS.
For grins I called and a guy answered "IRS, can I help you?"
When I told him who I was he launched into a very real sounding threat of my arrest.
I told him he was the one that was going to be arrested and hung up, called the local sheriff's office and the IRS and reported the incident.
The IRS thanked me and said they would follow up with the number I gave them.
The sheriff said that some "guests" have been getting access to the phone and making the calls.
They said they would look into it, but it was highly unlikely they would find the culprit.
