Sometimes when I am working on a story (which is what I’m calling this) the research for it almost becomes the story. This is not exactly one of those cases, but in doing the background digging around I did discover some interesting stuff, which I am about to share with you.

Firstly, did you know that there was a documentary film from around 2003 called “Postcards from Sun City AZ?” I did not.

Secondly, and this is really what brings us here, did you see the film screening of a documentary film, “Playing Hooky” (now renamed as “Very Senior: Attitude is Everything,”) made by a German film maker named Susan Gluth? I recently discovered that it just had its “World Premiere” on November 2018 (http://very-senior-film.com/category/en/) and I found myself thinking, ‘I am pretty sure that it had already had its world premiere in Sun City back on April 30, 2015 (my camera time), just with a different title. Anyway to back my memory up I’m posting pictures I took that afternoon and night. Another memory I had was giving some $20 to get a copy of the CD when it because available. Still waiting. In any case the film can be found on IMDB (Internet Movie Data Base) here https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9381322/ and my version here. https://www.flickr.com/photos/60188803@N00/albums/72157710469401086

Damn, just exchanged emails with Susan less than two weeks ago. Go figure.

I worked with her a bit on the video. She took tons of footage, some of it way better than what she actually used. Several of us were disappointed when it aired at the Sun Bowl. She was trying to showcase really old people staying active, we had hoped she would show younger more active people. I get where she was going, so perhaps it was more our fault than hers. We simply didn't realize it till well after the fact.

The other film was done just as we moved here. The oddity was they rented out houses from people to film it. I have never seen the film nor read much about it other than remembering some grumbling from those renting their property when it was shot. I can't even remember what they were complaining about. Goodness, it is tough to get old and senile.

You know the sentiment, "If you want a movie done right, do it yourself."
