This is the new annual rate passed at the December 17th Board Meeting. It amounts to a $1 a month increase or $12 more than last year: The new rate is $474.00 per year on the per property assessment basis and $237.00 per year on the per person assessment basis, effective February 1, 2016. The yearly Privilege Card cost will also be increased to $237.00, effective February 1, 2016.
So there are 2 charges. $474 property $237 Privilege Up, Up, Up go my expenses. No increase in income. Drats! Maybe I should claim refugee status to get everything free.
Sorry I confused you Peg....you will most likely only pay the $474 annual assessment. Only a non-deeded occupant or renter would be paying an additional $237 for a privilege card.
Thank you. I guess you just saved me $237. I am investigating Assisted Living places for a friend (I might need it too sometime). Any suggestions?
Something else to keep in mind about assisted living residences is that in most cases it is still necessary to buy a RCSC privilege card to participate in clubs and use RCSC facilities. Some places like Royal Oaks may pay for a portion of the annual cost but it's best to check with each facility as to their arrangement with the RCSC. If you own the residence (i.e. El Dorado assisted living condos), you would pay the full property assessment and are a full member of the RCSC with voting rights. Bottom line is you get what you pay for in the way of assisted living housing. A VERY careful look at what is offered, staffing and previous complaints is a must!
