RCSC Outreach and Communications Committee 9/18/2025

RCSC Outreach and Communications Committee and invited guests from the Gathering group met Thursday, September 18th, 2025.

They usually meet at Lakeview Center, but held it at the Sonora room, Grand Center, to better accommodate those who are mobility challenged accessing Lakeview’s second floor.

Meeting was facilitated by RCSC Director- vice president, Chris Nettesheim, chair of the committee.

• Committee members shared their goals to improve communication with our residents:
“A little more talk-a little more action.” “More personal contact.” Telephone Tree Welcome Wagon Involve more people. Increase participation in board elections. “Communication and honesty so people know what’s going on.” “ Focus on the dis-information in the community, provide accurate information.” Broken Marquees, “ can’t be fixed. Budget is a factor, expensive to replace or do something else.” “Independent newspaper is not enough. Talk to neighbors. Put your cell phones down.”

• Gathering participants then shared ideas. Contact Reader Board (marquee) companies for potential partnerships. Reduced or no cost. Better utilize and improve the Welcome Center experience for potential and current residents. Center needs to be open on Friday and Saturday when visitors, potential residents are more likely to stop by. Have it be the hub for new residents receiving their member card & photo and welcome packet. Importance of human connection opportunities. Mindful that some residents want/need print information mailed. Recruit volunteers to become knowledgeable “ambassadors/mentors” who personally welcome and available to discuss Sun City and answer new resident questions.

She asked everyone to think about their possible involvement in one of those efforts. It would not be a long term commitment. Whatever time you have available to help is valued and appreciated.
