When I was at the SC Visitor Center today, One of the volunteers there was someone I knew from the Posse - Ron Smith. He said he was running for the board and asked me to vote for him which I will do. When I asked what his objectives were he replied "to work for the good of the citizens of Sun City." Give a thought to voting for him. Thank you.
Looks like we will have as many as 8 or 9 candidates Peg. Wonderful news for all Sun City residents. I'm told there will be two open question forums for people to chat with the candidates and get a feel for their interests and goals. I couldn't be more pleased to hear about the excitement about having more people running than vacancies. Couple that with the new online voting for this election and it bodes well for all of us. How many positions are there? Does a candidate indicate what position he/she wants to run for? Could you list the positions (if there are more than one) here? How soon will we know who is running?
There are three open seats and candidates are elected at large. They don't declare they are running for one or the other; it's just the top three vote getters are elected. Petitions have to be turned in within the next couple of weeks and at that point we will start showcasing them. Both of the local papers will give them ink (and pictures i suspect) and of course SunViews will do a lengthy layout of their positions. Should be fun to finally see some competition.
