I went to the walking pool this morning and there were cameras and people filming for our new promotional video. The lady from the office said that it should be finished by Sept. I can't wait to see it...and pray I am not in it lol.

We spent 4 hours shooting video yesterday. These guys are real professionals and while there is a mountain of footage, we will end up with three 90 second spots. The goal is to incorporate more video as the site grows in popularity and we can identify the items visitors are most interested in.

Where are they going to post it? I hope they use some good music (if they use any). Music really gets to baby boomers. It was such a part of our culture growing up. I know music is important to humans in general, but it's something in the blood of baby boomers, IMHO. Anyone agree?

Not sure about music, but it will be posted an integral part of the new marketing website that is being built.

What's this in reference to? Is this a new promotional video for the Rec Centers or for the Visitor's Center? What's the website for... the rec centers? Thanks for the info...

Hey bmac; the RCSC board in 2011 approved $60,000 for marketing Sun City in the 2012 budget. After an ugly failed start trying to do a rush job on a new site, we took a deep breath and a step back to regroup. In 2012 the RCSC board put $100,000 into the 2013 budget for marketing and hired a professional marketing company Catapult.

We are in the process of rebranding the community. Pulte owns the logo for the Sun Cities and wouldn't sign off on us using it so we created a new logo. Catapult is in the process of building a new marketing specific site and there will be three 90 second video when we launch this fall. The goal will be to add additional video as we evolve, based on what visitors to the site are looking for.

Sun City's biggest problem, since they day they opened, is people think it is a community where people go to die. Meeker overcame it with the Play and Stay program (i'd bring it back in a heartbeat) but that's a bit radical for some folks. It would mean the RCSC would buy homes in the community from the PIF and let potential buyers rent them for 3 and 4 day stays.

People often question why we should market Sun City and there are multiple answers: One we want to increase property values so people and investors don't just see it as a cheap place to live. But of equal importance is to attract people who will understand the importance of buying into a community where ownership comes with the responsibility of preserving both the value and the values we have established over the past 50 plus years.
