Moral Equivalency.

Let's start with this: General Sherman was quoted as coining the phrase, "war is hell." It's way deeper in context, but the reality of those three words have never changed. Soldiers understand this better than anyone. Too many have paid the ultimate price with their life while even more have come back wounded both mentally and physically. It is the ultimate sacrifice.

It is also why we pay homage to our veterans; why we honor them and their service. There's been a long line of presidents who have shown us how much they mattered. Unfortunately there's only one i can recall who ever thought disparaging a wounded service member was classy.

John McCain by all accounts was a decent and honorable man. He served his country in both war and peace time. He gave more than most, especially as a prisoner of war in Vietnam. He stayed behind so others could come home. I won't post the comments trump was reported to have made when he died (they are simply too disgusting). However we have this one worth posting: "He's not a war hero, he's a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren't captured, okay? I hate to tell you."

John McCain was a war hero. But trump didn't stop there. Nope, he went after Gold Star families (2016). Then there are awful reports of what was said overseas to "his generals" when it was suggested he visit graves of fallen soldiers lost in World War Tw0. Of course trump denies them, but do i trust a general who served his country proudly or a guy who wouldn't know the truth if it bit him in the ass?

Here's what we know about trump. He is the most transactional of character's. Everything is about "what's in it for me?" He uses people and events as mere props. Think not? Upside down bibles, sniveling and cowering politician's who he insulted his families and then they came crawling back (much to his merriment). And the one that sticks in my craw; where he wrapped his overly-large backside in the American flag. I cannot think of a more craven and pathetic act by a man pretending to be presidential.

But alas, this thread has little to do with trump's disrespect of our service members. Nope. Yesterday we witnessed a poster to this site telling us those American's killed in the withdrawal from Afghanistan was far worse than what happened on January 6, 2021. Really?

Stay tuned as we dive into the "moral equivalency" of the two events. It should be interesting.

That fiasco what Trump’s fault as he negotiated the withdrawal believing the Taliban would keep their word. This is the self proclaimed deal maker. Then there was his political theater at Arlington Cemetery yesterday using families of the Marines killed during the withdrawal. How soon before pictures of that show up on tee shirts and coffee mugs for $59.99 each?

Before we begin, let's do some housekeeping. So we are clear, American soldiers died in Afghanistan while trump was president. And to be more clear, i, nor should anyone else blame him for those deaths. War is hell; people die.

To be more precise those American's killed during the withdrawal were killed by the Taliban. By the way, the same terrorist organization that trump negotiated the pullout with. It would be akin to the Israeli's negotiating a settlement with Hamas (trying to keep it simple for the trumpers).

All that aside, the comparison between J-6 and the withdrawal is ludicrous and here's why: What happened on January 6 was perpetrated by the actions of one man; donald j trump. It happened on US soil and was fueled by the man who wanted to stop the peaceful transfer of power. What happened in Afghanistan was perpetrated by a terrorist group (Taliban) in a country far away from home in horribly tough conditions to control.

My best guess is even trump supporters can spot the difference unless you are telling me those criminals who stormed the capital were indeed part of a terrorist organization? I know some of the groups are on the watch list for terrorist organizations but who am i to accuse them of such?

Here's what we do know, because the J-6 committee shared it all with the world. Thanks to Adam and Liz for joining in. We know trump, bannon, stone and a cast of others rallied their supporters to come to the capital on that day. We know trump told them they would have to go fight like hell to save their country.

We know from there they stormed the capital and over-ran the police, broke in and ransacked the building. We know a few were killed and countless others were and still are injured. We know because most of us watched it in horror on our TV screens. No, it was not just another tour group.

The president on the other hand watched it at the White House in glee. We know he was working the phones calling congressmen and senators trying to rally their support for the "Fake Electors" scheme. See, the point wasn't the damage they did, the point was to try and steal the election with a scheme that was hair-brained from the get-go. Mike Pence to his credit knew and understood his role, trump was clueless.

We also know now, many of those same fake electors are being prosecuted for their actions. We know some are pleading guilty and rolling over on others. We know, much like the J-6 criminals (no they are not patriots), they will be doing jail time. We know their actions were un-American and they should be processed for their complicity.

See how easy this is? In one case we had a terrorist organization that tragically killed American soldiers. In the other situation, we had a president who attempted to change the will and the vote of the people. Who planned a riot (dare i say coup?). Who gathered fake electors across the 6 battleground states with a goal to subvert our process.

It's like comparing an elephant to an ant. Moral equivalency indeed.

    O...M...G!!!!
I guess we'll just forget the part about "peacefully and patriotically" part of Trump's speech?
REALLY? You mean totally partisan J6 committee where the two RINO's were appointed after Nancy Pelosi rejected the 2 true Republican's in Jim Jordan and Jim Banks?
I really need to flush the blood out of my eyes after reading this garbage! And when the House Republican's launched an investigation into the J6 committee they found exculpatory evidence that was not included in the committee and found that many documents, when requested, were no longer available for review!

Why do you only ever tell one side of a story?

I think you really need to have your moral compass recalibrated!

Really Tom? Moral compass and all telling me trump won the election in 2020. Nice list of bullshit you posted as PROOF. There is none, there never has been any and there never will be any. Keep spewing if it helps you buy into the wind bag's bloviating.

It's like i said earlier, the maga crowd will always be the minority segment of the voting population. That's why trump lost to Biden. More people hate him than love him. It's really that simple bro.

The con man only appeals to a certain crowd who thinks it's cool to insult anyone and everyone. What did you think of the way he treated John McCain? Did it make you proud? Did it make you a patriot?

On the other hand i'll take Harris/Walz and celebrate normal every day people and applaud their efforts.

    You know why right?

    Joy Baby, Joy.

Yeah, because you are a die-hard Democrat and you don't care about Kamala's low approval ratings or Walz's stolen Valor or how your Party has decimated our economy over the last 3 1/2 years. I get it, both parties have done damage to the economy, but it never has declined so deep, so fast in such a short amount of time.

But...I guess you are "Unburdened by what has been", or did you just fall out of a coconut tree?

We will just agree to disagree and see what happens in November, but geez, you sound so bitter!

Bitter? Me. Read back your anger dude. It's like you've popped a cork. I on the other hand am imploring each of us to become joyous.

The other thing bro, is i worry you're going to have an embolism or an aneurysm or one of those other ism's that affects folks would too tight.

Sorry hip but the day one slog is vintage trumpism. You know, like "He alone" can fix anything. In the interim, be sure and send in your hard earned dollars for his bible or his golden sneakers or his soon to be crashing truth stocks or his collector coins or God only knows what the next gimmick will be?

I'll spend my hard earned dollars on Joy Baby, Joy.

Holy hockey puck batman, the boys upstairs must be reading TOSC. This headline just hot of the press:
Trump charged in superseding indictment in election interference case following SCOTUS ruling.

You didn't read or listen to anything about this did you. LMAO. Put the cork back in.

Yeah, he's being charged with the same 4 charges that he was originally charged with!

Kinda like the phoney case in NY where they charged him 34 times for the supposedly same single crime! Same entree 34 times so they indicted him 34 times.

And yeah, he's going to get fair justice in D.C. just like he's getting in NY.

We were lied to about Covid and Hunter's laptop. We all knew, it came out before, Zuckerberg just decided to issue a Mia culpa. Millions of lives were affected by covid and he buried it on orders from the Biden Administration. You can read his letter on X

Well in Bill's mind getting Trump is so much more important than the Taliban still murdering and torturing people. Afghanistan’s Taliban responsible for revenge killings, torture of former officials | UN News

Oh! And here's the Parade Bill. Do you love a parade??? Taliban parade US military equipment 3 years after Afghanistan withdrawal (newsnationnow.com)

What can bring us more Joy than watching Gym jordan and the other cast of merry men and women chasing their tail?

By the way, cue the scary music. dig out the deep throated announcer voice and speak in hushed terms of the "deep state" (another of trumps's boogie men) when we explore the 200 republicans who just signed on to rebuke trump for the danger he is. But wait, it gets way better.

While the hipster is quoting Don Lemon and some attendee of the DNC convention i have a list of quote's by members of trumps cabinet and inner circle and the Joy will be truly felt as we start a thread on just those not so kind reflections of the trumpster in all his glory.

One can never get enough from those who spent so much quality time with him. Dare i say, he brought absolute and total Joy to their hearts?

    Joy Baby, Total Freaking Joy.
