I look at most of the video taping the RCSC does as an opportunity to give members a lesson in our amazing history. Some know it, most don't. I've never understood the fear of it, but it is almost always evident. Perhaps during the the second candidate forum, it was never more obvious. Before i go there though, let me give a shout out to Bill Schwind, the general manager in Sun City West. The header in the title was the line i repeated in my question to the candidates the other night. Credit where credit is due, he used the same phrase over and over again at the Sun City West annual meeting in June of this year. He calls people there, "member/owners." Compare that to our former gm who worked tirelessly to make us all "card-holders." It's interesting, the responses i got to my question. By the way, i was mildly rebuked by a staff member for going on too long, oh well. On the stage, the answers ran the gamut. I won't tell you what i said until you get a chance to watch it. I can tell you, in spite of the staff member's comment, i could have stood there for an hour using the same line. I've become frustrated as the RCSC has become fixated on how good they've done in Sun City. It's almost as if how we got here, is immaterial. Both the departed gm and and the new one have shown virtually no interest in our history and what they inherited. It was handed to them on a platter, with hundreds of millions of dollars to make it all work. I understand why they are quick to dismiss the notion, our successes have nothing to do with the past. What they will never be able to refute is that everything is a direct result of the OWNER/MEMBER (that one's for you Dave; no celebration, just emphasis).
Perhaps you should have titled this thread, "The Invisible Man"? We Member's/Cardholders have absolutely no influence on the board and they seem to care less about what we think. I have often sent emails to the board and seldom, mostly never, have I even received a "Thank you for your comment"! I wish someone would simply ask me to explain my comment, but it seems they have no interest! As Colonel Jessup once said in A Few Good Men, "You can't handle the truth", and neither can the board or management! Let's not even get into the fact that we have no remedy against anything the board or management does unless we get their blessings to do so first! We are not in a very good place right now!
