Truth is,... sometimes it's a good thing to be ignorant, and you don't have to look any further than our own Board of Directors and their knowledge of the rules they took an oath to obey. Sorry if I sound a little harsh, but it is what it is! It's not like this was a remotely hidden rule buried deep inside the Bylaws. It's right there under Article V, Board of Directors, Section 5, Meetings of the Board. What am I talking about? I'm referring to the motion made by Director Collins that failed to pass its second reading. Truth is, that motion actually did pass because it only required one reading because it was taken at a Special Session! Here's what our Bylaws say in Article V, Section 5, 4th paragraph: "...Motions made in Board meetings, excluding Executive Sessions, Special Sessions and the Exchanges, shall be read and passed a minimum of two times before finalized..." So you see, it didn't require a second reading. If they really wanted to have two readings and votes they would have had to first make the motion to suspend the rules so that they could do so,... but they didn't! It's all too late to do anything about it now. Nobody called a point of order. It's a done deal! Admittedly, I have a love-hate relationship with rules, I don't really like a lot of rules but if you have them, you should at least know what they are and follow them. Just my opinion.
FYI - It is a reckoning I have come to grips with and I hope you do too. Half measures availed us nothing. Best Regards and God Bless, John
The Board decides to hold a Special Session,... so...is it too much to ask to take a look at the Bylaws and see what it says about Special Sessions? This isn't the first time they blew-it on Special Sessions. Luckily, this time their failure to obey the rules worked to the communities advantage. The last time it didn't!
