Received this from an RCSC email, and although I don't think this contest was promoted enough or had sufficient community input, here's your last chance to vote:

Thank you to everyone who has taken part in nominating and helping us to narrow down the name options for our four NEW paddle boats that will be made available to RCSC Members/Cardholders at Viewpoint Lake! As the final steps toward opening the lake move forward, we have one LAST vote for the remaining finalists names. By far, most Members voted in favor of names that celebrated the "Sun" in Sun City. However, other names were also still receiving many votes so we wanted to ask one more time to help us narrow down to the specific four you love the most! (Please note that we cannot use trademark names, although there were a lot of fun suggestions!)

To take part in history, select up to FOUR of your favorite names below and submit your answer! We have a few ways for you to vote. If you have a gmail account, you can answer by clicking here. You may also call in your votes to (623) 977-5000 (leave a message with your vote if we are with another Member), email us at blucas@suncityaz.org, post your answer on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/suncityarizona, or stop by the Sun City Visitor & Welcome Center (Bell and 99th Avenue) or any Recreation Center to share your nominations!

PLEASE VOTE BY END OF THE DAY MONDAY, OCTOBER 23, 2023

Dang, none of favorites made the cut. That's okay, just good to see the effort to involve the membership. Taking ownership was how Sun City was built and why it was so successful. Returning to our roots is a good, no make that, a GREAT thing.

I never use Facebook, so found out late, but still emailed my suggestions as did a few others I know, but none of us received a thanks for submission or any further explanation as to how the names would be narrowed down. Yep, poor communication for sure. I was really surprised not even one that had Lakeview or Lake in it (save for Lady of the Lake) made the cut. It would have been more fun had it not been rushed and more step-by-step info on submissions to generate excitement would have been done: picture graphs with the names making their way towards a finish line, etc. Also, was surprised that at the last RCSC evening mtg, not a peep was even made about it, and what better opportunity to get some submissions or votes than a room full of members who care enough to make a meeting....

Director Totten's motion to reinstate the communication and outreach committee made perfect sense. A more holistic approach to reaching out to the membership would be a good thing. Involving the membership should come across everything the RCSC does. Sadly, 4 board members voted against it...go figure.

Anyone know what the winners were? Haven't seen anything about it.
