Those along the Colorado River are some of the largest in the country. Many provide recreational facilities including boating, fishing, and camping. Lake Havasu on the Arizona/California border provides water for 2 aquaducts. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Havasu Theodore Roosevelt Lake is the largest lake/reservoir located entirely within the state. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theodore_Roosevelt_Lake Lake Mead joins Arizona and Nevada and is the largest reservoir in the world. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Mead
The little lake in Youngtown isn't much of one, but at least you can walk your dogs there unlike Sun City's Viewpoint Lake.
I have been meaning to ask about that, about dog walking around Viewpoint Lake. I had a feeling the answer was no.
Thanks for giving the link. Like I said, not much, but a close alternative that is dog-friendly and there is a dog park nearby too, and when you walk around the Youngtown Library and its little botanic garden there is an area for dogs and has baggies. BTW, the Youngtown library is charming. It will really remind you of the small hometown libraries and it has a good used book section, about a half dozen computers, and good people. You need a separate library card and they were so nice when I asked about getting one as they don't get much Sun City business--not surprised since Youngtown is often looked at as an evil stepmother and really deserves a closer look and kinder words.
