Introducing the New Print Sun City Update!! What do you think? Read the January 2024 Edition here: https://suncityaz.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/2024-01-January-Sun-City-AZ-Update-bl-n.pdf
If you read nothing else (that would be a mistake on your part), at the very least read the front page comments from general manager Matthew D'Luzansky: Greetings this fine day and welcome to 2024! As you see, things are different already, even in the Sun City Update you are reading right now. It is bigger and brighter, with larger print and less squint, and with more readily readable relevant information about Sun City than ever before. And there is a good chance you had it delivered right to your door! In this month’s Sun City Update newsletter, we are including several articles from local organizations and recaps from several RCSC Management Team Members in addition to annual club articles. We’ve expanded the Club Directory to four pull-out pages along with the full page listing of Center/Monitored Activites to help you explore all of the activities available to RCSC Members/Cardholders. We changed and learned a lot last year, in many areas of the RCSC, and plan now to use that knowledge to make 2024 better. With changes to our planning and schedules, with improvements in our communications and timeliness, and adjustments to our staff and organizational structure, while documenting old and new processes, and more. Thank you for your trust, and participation, in a new year of fun and adventure with meetings, halls, and other get togethers, that are focused on improving Sun City for the Members, and Staff, with the guidance from the RCSC Board of Directors and Management. RCSC is not just a corporation, it is a living breathing thinking discussing community of individuals with much wisdom and experience, that must work together to continue this idea, this dream, this place known the world over as Sun City, the community that changed a nation, and beyond. Looking forward to a great 2024 - together! Matthew clearly gets it; he is now overseeing the most iconic of all age restricted communities in the country. His vision is well articulated and i believe his path forward is grounded in both the board and the members playing an active role in getting us back on the path to a brighter future.
Hooray! I used the new newsletter just this morning to find the email for a staff member to donate a very heavy, large planter if RCSC is interested in it. Only problem was that I couldn't find the GM's name as I couldn't remember how to spell his last name. It's not hard to find though in other places.
"Stop sending me stuff"..."I didn't know about that." It's going to be a challenge to get people to read to say the least yet they want to know what's going on.
Can you lead a member to information and expect them to read it? Hopefully, the improved content, easier to read format and continual promotion generates better understanding and participation in all things RCSC! The January 2024 Update edition, in the new format, is 24 pages long. How does it compare to other years? January 2023 SunViews was 11 pages. The whole year it was 7 - 15 pages long. January SunViews pages from the archives 2022 - 11 2021 - 11 2020 - 35 2019 - 35 2018 - 35 2017 - 35 2016 - 39 2015 - 39 2014 - 39 2013 - 19 2012 - 14 2011 - 24 From Archives: https://suncityaz.org/rcsc/presscommunications/
It was 2021 when they dropped the ads (that covered most of the costs) and stopped the delivery by the Independent. The small count pages were then distributed by at the rec centers with no at home delivery. I think the statement was made by doing that the RCSC saved roughly $10,000 a year. It would be more interesting to see the numbers printed for distribution in each of those years. They did send an electronic version to those signing up their email address.
I think if i understood the GM's comments, the first goal was to make the communication coming from the RCSC to members more cohesive and compatible across each of the various platforms. That would make perfect sense to me and when you add in the new communication and outreach committee, they could/should intersect and complimentwith one another. That said, if there truly is to be a master plan, the first question that need be answered it should be this: "What is it we want our communication to do? Be? Life/answers are never as simple as we want them to be, or as hard/difficult as we make them.
