I deleted an earlier post about the RCSC Exchange meeting on the 12th because it went way off track on Nextdoor. Anyway, what I took away from the replies is that perhaps selling my home and renting would be to my advantage. No property taxes, no assessment fees, no condo association fees, no land scaping fees if I rented a single-family home, no painting, no paying for a roof or A/C if needed. I am sure there is much more. I always wondered why people rent if they could own. I never thought it was a good idea until now. With all the angst in SC now and issues with the RCSC BOD maybe renting is the way to go! Why put up with all the politics?? Live, enjoy, no hassles and $325/year to use the facilities vs $650.00! WHY BUY???
My condo fee (covers roof and never had an assessment), rec fee, property tax, and condo insurance over the last year is $4742 or $395 a month. Maybe $10,000 in repairs, new AC, and appliances over the last 13 years. I see some people want $800 a month just for renting a bedroom in a condo.
The house across the street from me became a rental. Monthly rent is $1,675 plus they are required to pay utilities and maintain the landscape. Not such a good deal in my opinion! No return on your investment. Perhaps Josie should just rent her Sun City home and find a cheaper rental in Peoria?
