Back in the day, i was much more abrasive than i am today...old age has mellowed me some. That's a good thing. But, there inevitably comes a tipping point when i lose that point of being reasonable and just need to express my exact sentiments without sugar coating it. This is one of those times. I don't know who is responsible, MCDOT or ADOT, but one or both of agencies might just be the dumbest group of "strategic thinkers" the world has ever seen. Sorry JP, i know you've worked well with them over the years, but they need to be held accountable on this one. The restructuring of the traffic lights on Bell Road and 99th Drive (and maybe others) in Sun City is HORRIBLE! Yes, i shouted it because it's that bad and worse. There is NO logic to how they function, when they change and when they don't. We sat in a turn lane off of Bell unto Boswell for three light changes and the turn light never came on. Finally the guy in front of us ran it as did we. It happens all the time. I know their goal is to keep traffic moving for those traveling through Sun City, but some of us live here and what you have done is just put us all in harms way. Think not? Sit at some of these intersections and watch as people get frustrated and run lights so as not to sit there forever. And then there is the issue of golf cars and some of these intersections. Hay gang, there's 10,000 golf cars in the community and when you use trip signals built into the roadway, you need recognize there is a weight difference between a car and a golf car. Most often a single golf car will not trip the signal. Help me out here JP, what the hell is going on and who is to blame for this lunacy.
BP- Just to let you know that it is a MCDOT issue. We have forwarded your concerns and requested follow up through the MCDOT representative who was at the SCHOA Roads & Safety meeting this morning. We've experienced some of the same problems at controlled intersections. JP
Thanks JP, cool on the meeting the same day as my rant. For those of you who don’t know Jim Powell (JP), he has been on the SCHOA board for years and has been the point man on all things traffic/safety related and has done a great job. Sadly, he is leaving at years end and will be dearly missed.
