Too fun eh? The Ring the Bell Ceremony is going on in Sun City today, the 4th of July. For those who don't know, we have an exact replica of the Liberty Bell on the grounds of the Bell Rec Center. Great story; the bell was made from donated metals from residents to commemorate the USA bicentennial. Every year we celebrate with with a ceremony featuring "Uncle Sam" and all residents step up and ring the bell if they choose. A couple of years ago, while on the board, we talked about having a fireworks display shot off from Meeker Mountain, unfortunately the county was concerned about our dry conditions and the potential for something catching fire. Instead the RCSC opens the Bell center bowling alley and lets people bowl, serves cake and just has a big old party. All good fun, but i'm thinking we need create our own "fireworks" in the community in the coming months and shake things up a bit. A couple of us have been talking about how to do that. The consensus is we grow the circle of people and have some good old fashion fun. As by-products of the 60's, we understand activism, education and communication being critical to expanding our horizons. Stay tuned as we gather and talk about our next steps.
