Hey gang; been really busy these days with the change in board members, reassignment of committees and the 24 page full color magazine we are working on for the annual membership meeting. Of course the never ending bowl games and the NFL playoffs have gotten some attention (to say nothing of the holidays).

Enough whining; the new year is here and things are kicking in full steam. This Saturday at the Sundial auditorium, the Sun City Foundation will be hosting Helping America See (part 2). The first one was this past summer and was really well received by those attending.

This free event will begin with coffee and rolls at 7:30 am with the actual program beginning at 8:30 am. It is a must attend for anyone with concerns about good eye health. You can come and go as you please, but what we found at the initial offering was that many people stayed through the entire morning; the presentations were that good.

Macular degeneration has become a massive problem of late. So much of the new technology is accelerating the numbers of eye problems. Seems flat panel televisions, computer monitors, tablets, iphones and even the latest light bulbs are creating what some doctors are calling a blue light epidemic.

There are things you can do to combat it and this seminar will help you understand what they are. There will be 4 densitometers on site and testing will be available on a first come/first served basis. There will also be a section of the auditorium reserved for the doctors to sit and chat with folks who are looking for answers.

This is a great opportunity for those of you who are concerned about your eye sight. There will also be limited numbers of special sunglasses available for purchase for use outdoors.

Hope to see you all there.

    Bill and others,

My aunt suffers from Macular Degeneration, the “wet” variety. She has lost sight completely in her right eye, and has very limited peripheral vision in her left eye. She does have the magnifying viewer that we purchased, and she can see most things. It is at 40X for her to be able to see things.

She spent a lifetime at a cash register and a business environment under fluorescent lights and in front of a CRT monitor. She also smoked for way to many years. All of this put together has led to near complete blindness. If you or a loved one has ever smoked, still smokes, or spent time working under fluorescent lighting, this is your chance to get more information as to how to save your sight. If you have ever been a fisherman, farmer, outdoor laborer, or occupation or pastime where being outdoors and having light shine in your eyes, then this seminar is a must for you. There are new treatments available as well as specialized glasses to help reduce the impact of Macular Degeneration.

If you are already noticing the effects on your sight, such as the center of the field of vision not being clear or it is blurry, I urge you to use this FREE seminar as way to get the help you need. This information can literally save your sight, as well as your lifestyle.

No one wants to be dependent on others to meet their needs, being legally blind robs you of your independence. Please use this seminar as a gateway to better eye health.
