Full RCSC VIDEO -Bylaw Special Session

I will repeat myself. Prior to any written document, the author(s) should determine who the readers are, the purpose of the written document and what their message conveys. These bylaws are written in legalese so one can assume lawyers were their primary target and purpose. Members, be damned.

For comparison, I worked with special education law for over a decade. (I became very familiar with that aspect of law but would never think that I was an expert on other areas of law.) The federal law and state regulations were written to spell out the responsibilities school districts had for the education of students with disabilities but a reasonable person could understand them. School policies usually followed suit. My charge was to help the school districts fulfill those responsibilities and keep them out of lawsuits. However, parent manuals were written in more welcoming language. I hope the RCSC Board has a way to do that to remedy the way the bylaws are written. Watching the video, I would say some Directors were defensive of them and not particularly welcoming of any criticism. Sorry, that goes with the territory when creating or modifying a work that affects every Member.

As I reflect on how these changes will affect my daily activities in Sun City, I realize "not much" as long as I pay my fees and follow the rules. No wonder RCSC Members don't pay attention until it affects them personally.

I am sorry I missed your point, and I never said in this thread Dave is lying in this thread. I interpreted his response "so noted" as an affirmation the previous bylaws were not in violation of the ANCA in any material way. Oh well.
